Amount of sugar and cooking time
According to the classic recipe for lingonberry jam, berries and sugar are taken equally or 20% more of the latter. It depends on personal taste.
Important! A large amount of sugar makes the jam thicker in consistency and allows it to be stored longer, but it interrupts the natural taste of lingonberries.
There are options with less sweetener.
To make lingonberry jam for the winter, you need to take more sugar.
There are different technologies for making lingonberry jam. The classic recipe involves long cooking, sometimes in several stages, to produce a thick delicacy that will keep well even outside the refrigerator. In total, cooking time should not exceed 40 minutes. If you cook in one go, the berries will become soft. If you take breaks, allowing the future jam to cool completely, the fruits will retain their structure.
A very common option is five minutes. The cooking time is implied in its name, 5 minutes are counted after boiling. This delicacy is considered more useful, since the berries retain more of their properties with minimal heat treatment.
There are recipes for so-called jam without cooking or berries mashed with sand. This dessert cannot be stored for a long time, and it must be kept in the refrigerator.

Required components:
- 1 kg granulated sugar;
- 2 kg of peeled berries.
Making Jam:
1. As always, peel and rinse the berries in warm water. Place them in a thick-bottomed pan.
There is no need to dry the berries, since with this method of creating a delicacy, water will not prevent it from becoming correct and healthy.
2. Pour granulated sugar into a bowl, take a masher or pestle and crush the bright fruits into a homogeneous mass. At the same time, this way you will thoroughly mix them with sand.
Or you can wear latex gloves and crush the contents directly with your hands.
The main task is not necessarily to press all the berries, but to ensure that they release juice and do not burn during cooking.
3. Place the pan over medium heat and cook its contents until it boils. Try to always be near the pan and stir the food. As soon as it begins to bubble, lower the burner and cook the dessert for another 10 minutes, again while stirring.
4. Remove the dishes from the stove and let the sweet cool completely. Then put it on the fire again and simmer the dish until it reduces by 1/3 of the total volume.
How to check if the jam is ready? Take a chilled plate and drizzle the dessert onto it. If it does not spread, then the delicacy is ripe.
5. Place the food in a sterile glass container and close with lids. Cool under a thick, warm cloth. The dessert can be stored not only in the refrigerator, but also at room temperature for 1.5 years.

Lingonberry jam for the winter - five-minute recipe
The first recipe for a super-vitamin treat makes it so due to minimal heat treatment. And the speed of its creation will push you even more to prepare the dish.
By adding only granulated sugar and clean water to the sweetness, you will get a fragrant and super-healthy dessert.
Ingredients (for approximately 1 liter of finished product):
- 500 gr. berries;
- 500 gr. granulated sugar;
- 100 ml. filtered water.
Cooking technology:
1. Well done! Such a beautiful harvest appeared in your kitchen. Let's quickly weigh the required number of berries, take 2 deep containers and pour into one of them everything that we collected in the forest or purchased at the market.
2. Rid the fruits of debris and low-quality berries: those with rotten fruit and crushed ones go into a separate bowl. Good and whole, we send them to the second bowl.
3. Then place the container in the sink and rinse the bright ruby balls in warm running water. If any more debris floats to the surface of the berries, drain the liquid and rinse them again.
4. Take out the colander and transfer everything that you washed into them. Let excess water drain from them. After this, you can lay the fruits on a towel or rag so that the water is absorbed into the fabric. You can also blot the berries with paper towels.
5. Prepare your lifesaver, that is, a blender. Open its bowl and move the bright fruits into it. Close it with a lid and chop the berries. If you have an immersion blender, you can use that too.
It is not necessary to turn the main component into puree. Pieces of berries will look beneficial and appetizing in a dessert.
6. Place the ruby mass into an enamel pan and pour granulated sugar into it. Mix the ingredients and leave them for half an hour. During this time, you can periodically stir them with a wooden spatula so that more juice is formed.
7. Then turn on the stove over medium heat and place the container with the treat on it. Bring it to a boil and reduce the burner to low. Cook the mixture for another 5 minutes and you can distribute the contents among the jars.
Don't forget to skim off any foam while cooking. It may contain forest litter in the form of blades of grass and leaves. The cleaner and fresher the berry, the less foam will form.
8. While the dessert is brewing, sterilize the glass container. Boil the water. Place the jars with lids in a basin or bowl. Pour boiling water over them, place the container on the table and let it dry.
Or use any other method of sterilizing containers.
9. Carefully pour the thick hot mixture into the jars and seal them with lids. Place the filled container on the floor and cover it with thick cloth. As soon as the dessert has cooled, put it in the cellar or refrigerator.
I usually keep this jam in the refrigerator. There it is perfectly preserved and is always thick and tasty.
This is how a super-vitamin dish will turn out. Sweet, thick and most healthy, melting in your mouth. Be sure to save some sweets for your next tea party. Let it charge you with excellent health and a warm mood.

How interesting. I've never seen a recipe like this. I myself make something between jam and marmalade from plums and apples. But this jam, I think, will be no worse. The only thing is that we get lingonberries late, if only we had apples at this time. And regarding sugar, I have a question: isn’t there a lot of sugar per kilogram of berries and apples? However, no one bothers to add a little less.

I can only imagine how delicious it is. But, alas, we don’t have lingonberries, and if it’s not in the store, I won’t be able to cook such a delicious dish.
