Bay leaf: growing in a pot and care at home, diseases. How to propagate bay leaves at home by shoots, cuttings, or grow from seeds?

Reproduction of laurel at home: taking cuttings

For vegetative propagation by this method, semi-lignified cuttings, which can be obtained from another plant, are ideal. If you do not yet have an adult donor laurel, then you can purchase the necessary parts separately.

When to start cutting laurel

Laurel cuttings are usually carried out with the onset of the first warm days, cutting off the shoots in April or early June.

The selected plant (preferably with annual shoots that have not yet become lignified) must completely move away from winter dormancy.

Some gardeners carry out the cutting process in late autumn, but in this case you will not be able to plant the cuttings in the greenhouse or garden.

How to properly prepare cuttings

To prepare cuttings, laurel branches taken from the middle or lower part of the shoots are cut into pieces of 6-8 cm each. Such a cutting must have at least three internodes (three free areas between the places where the leaves are attached) and an oblique cut in the lower part.

The first leaves are completely removed, and the top ones are only trimmed a little, leaving half a leaf in order to minimize the evaporation of moisture.

How to choose a ready-made cutting when purchasing

If you need laurel cuttings, but you don’t want to think about how to grow them yourself, then you can purchase ready-made, rooted specimens.

They are ideal for planting in open ground, so you can quickly get a full-fledged plant.

However, before you buy the first cuttings you come across, inspect them carefully. Bay leaves are often damaged by scale insects, which are also easy to notice on cuttings.

There should be no suspicious growths on the shoot, and it itself should have an elastic shape. Overdried cuttings will be of little use.

Selecting a ready-made cutting

Laurel propagation can also be done using a purchased shoot. These are ready-made options. They can be planted in open ground and a new plant will grow from it.

You should inspect the cuttings before purchasing. Laurel is often damaged by scale insects, which are immediately noticeable. There should be no suspicious growths on the shoot, and the stem should have an elastic shape. Dried ones are not suitable!

Laurel propagation by cuttings at home can be carried out in 2 ways: using a substrate or ordinary water. Each method has its own characteristics.

How to root bay leaf cuttings

Laurel propagation by cuttings can take place in two main ways: using a pre-prepared substrate or by rooting in ordinary water.

Rooting laurel in the substrate

The ideal soil for rooting laurel cuttings would be coarse sand, or a mixture of sand and peat. Also, turf soil and sand are often used ( first a layer of drainage is poured into the pot, then a layer of turf soil, and a layer of sand is added on top

).

After this, the resulting substrate must be well moistened and the cuttings planted to a depth of 1-1.5 cm according to the 10x10 pattern.

To ensure better contact of the cutting with the sand, the latter is slightly squeezed with your fingers, and in order to maintain the required air humidity, a plastic bag is pulled over the top of the pot (by installing pegs near the cutting, you will protect its contact with the polyethylene).

The process of rooting laurel cuttings is quite difficult, so before placing the cut cuttings in such a substrate, treat them with a growth stimulator (for example, Kornevin or Heteroauxic).

The pot with cuttings should be placed in a mini greenhouse or covered with a glass jar. The optimal temperature for laurel, at least at the stage of rooting the cuttings, is within +24...+25 (at temperatures of +16...+20°C the cuttings will take root for more than a month).

In addition, to stimulate the described process, it is useful to spray the cuttings daily with water (starting with 4-5 sprays) and ventilate.

By strictly adhering to cutting technology, within a month or a month and a half your shoots will form roots. As soon as this happens, they can be transplanted into 7-centimeter pots with the same substrate and care regime as when propagated by seed.

How to root cuttings in water

It's no secret that many indoor plants are often rooted in a regular jar or bottle of water. It would seem that this method is not as reliable as the previous one, but it is also suitable for successful propagation of laurel from cuttings.

All you need is to pour five centimeters of water into a jar and place the cutting in it. The jar with laurel is left in a dark place without changing the water (it can only be topped up).

When and how can you cut and root cuttings from indoor laurel?

Laurel (laurel nobilis = Laurus nobilis) belongs to subtropical plants, therefore in the cold season this plant rests at low air temperatures, which is why it is advisable to begin the process of propagation by cuttings in the spring, when young leaves appear.
Laurel is usually propagated by cuttings from mid-spring to mid-summer. For rooting, take small apical semi-lignified (last year's growth) cuttings with 3-5 leaves, root them in perlite, sphagnum moss, in a mixture of sand, peat and perlite. Water is usually not used as a medium for the emergence of roots, but this option cannot be ruled out at all. In some sources you can find an opinion about the need to cut the leaves in half - this should not be done, because it is the leaves that feed the cutting.

If a peat tablet is not used for rooting, but a substrate, then small cups are used as a container for planting, preferably with transparent walls and a drainage hole at the bottom of the pot. Before rooting, cut cuttings are soaked for several hours in a root formation stimulator (Cor nevin, heteroauxin), then planted in a substrate and placed in a greenhouse.

Make a greenhouse with your own hands from a glass jar, bag, transparent container, etc. or buy a special closed container for seedlings. The greenhouse helps maintain high humidity around the cuttings, minimizes the evaporation of moisture from the leaves and helps maintain their turgor in the absence of roots.

Bottom heating (30 - 35 degrees) using a special heat mat for seedlings or central heating will help the cuttings to take root quickly, in about 1-1.5 months.

After the roots appear at the walls of the cup, the time of ventilation of the greenhouse is gradually increased from day to day, weaning the plants from high air humidity.

The cuttings are transplanted into the pot only after the roots have completely entwined the walls of the cup. Typically, the entire rooting period from pruning to transplanting into a pot takes from 3 to 6 months.

Do not forget that laurel can be propagated by layering, root shoots and seeds.

How to plant laurel cuttings

Planting rooted laurel cuttings is not much different from transplanting citrus plants, but you still need to know what kind of soil is best to use and how exactly to “relocate” the plant to a new place of residence.

What soil should I plant laurel in?

A suitable soil mixture for propagating laurel by cuttings at home consists of two main parts: below is 3-4 cm of turf soil, and on top is 2-3 cm of sand.

The ideal soil option would be a light carbonate mixture, which can be purchased at any gardening store.

How to plant laurel cuttings correctly

It is better to plant laurel cuttings in small pots, increasing their size as the plant grows.

A drainage layer is laid out at the bottom of the container, then the soil mixture is filled in, and after carefully removing the cuttings with roots from the previous place of growth, they are placed at a depth of 2 centimeters. Sprinkle the soil on top with a small layer of sand and lightly moisten it.

Do not immediately flood the plant with water, as excessive humidity may lead to the development of fungal diseases.

Features of caring for cuttings

Rooted cuttings no longer require such close attention, but their care must still be organized taking into account all basic needs.

Watering and spraying

Laurel does not like moisture too much, so watering the cuttings should be moderate. In summer, the plant needs more liquid and additional spraying of the leaves (can be replaced by wiping with a damp sponge), while in winter the amount of watering is significantly reduced.

In any case, the top layer of soil in a pot with a plant should always remain slightly moist.

Feeding a young plant

Complex organic and mineral compounds are used as fertilizer for laurel cuttings, which are easy to find in specialized stores.

Some gardeners claim that a mullein solution is also suitable for these purposes, but the slightest violation of the dosage can simply burn the roots, so it is better to abandon this method in the initial stages.

Find the answer to the question “How to propagate laurel from cuttings?” - not difficult, but you must understand that this is a rather long and painstaking process, so if you urgently need a full-fledged plant with a lush crown, then it makes sense to think about purchasing a whole bush at once. In the future, you can propagate it using the already mentioned method of cuttings.

Many plants are grown using cuttings. This is a common method of vegetative propagation. Laurel is also grown in the same way. This is not very difficult to do if you familiarize yourself with all the nuances. How bay leaves are propagated in this way is described in the article.

The procedure requires semi-lignified cuttings, which can be obtained from another plant. If you do not have an adult donor laurel, you can buy the parts separately. In this case, you will also be able to grow a beautiful plant.

How to properly care for a bay tree

After planting the laurel, the work does not end, because when growing, you need to regularly take care of its condition, water and fertilize the soil. And to create a decorative appearance, it needs to be trimmed.

Watering and fertilizing the plant

Watering the laurel is important at any stage of its development. When planting seeds and for the development of roots in cuttings, you need to use warm, soft and settled water.

Watering an adult plant should also be done with settled water, but the seasonal intensity of watering the tree should be distinguished.

In spring and summer, laurel needs constant watering to avoid drying out of the soil. In autumn, watering is reduced. In winter, it must be strictly limited, and if the laurel is in a room with a temperature below 6 °C, then watering should be stopped altogether.

Young plants need to spray their leaves for better growth; adult plants are sprayed to eliminate dust on the leaves and crown of the tree.

The laurel needs feeding not only at the time of transplantation, but throughout its entire life period. An adult laurel is a slow growing tree, so in order to avoid depletion of the plant, you need to change the top 3-4 cm of the soil in which it grows.

As a top dressing, you should use a substrate based on one part turf soil, one part leaf soil, half part peat and half part humus. The laurel is fed 1-2 times a month during the period of its active growth; this is not necessary in winter. Laurel also responds well to organic fertilizers, which can be purchased at garden stores.

Did you know? It is recommended to use mineral fertilizers no more than once a month.

Laurel tree pruning

Pruning is performed solely for decorative purposes. Since laurel is a noble plant, it tolerates pruning very calmly. At home, it can be beautifully trimmed into a ball or pyramid shape. But it’s still worth doing this once, giving the bush the necessary shape; in the future, the laurel should be trimmed with pruners to maintain it. It is worth considering that, although laurel can easily tolerate pruning, it is a slow-growing plant, so it will take a long time to restore the crown and grow back.

Important! Pruning should be done in early spring, before the active growth period of the laurel.

About the plant

Its leaves are used as a spice. For a long time, the plant was considered a sacred tree; wreaths from it were used to decorate the heads of winners in Ancient Greece.

Laurel is cultivated in the subtropics. The tree is evergreen, its height is 10-15 meters. It has brown, smooth bark and bare shoots. The crown is densely leafy. The leaves are short-petiolate, alternate, simple, and have a spicy scent. The inflorescences are umbellate. The flowers are small, yellowish.

The Mediterranean is considered its homeland. In nature the tree is tall. At home it grows up to 1.5-2 meters. The tree can grow well at home. The main thing is that you need to reproduce it correctly. Caring for laurel is also important.

Reproduction methods

There are several ways to propagate noble laurel at home:

  • cuttings;
  • planting seeds;
  • offspring department.

Reproduction requires not only experience and skill, but also patience.

Cuttings are one of the most labor-intensive methods, for which a large, strong tree is used. To do this, you need to follow the following algorithm.

  1. Carefully separate the branches with 4 internodes using a utility knife or blade.
  2. Dip each of them in a substance for active growth of the root system (it can be found in any specialty store). Place in a container of water until roots form. The cuttings can be placed in damp perlite, covered with a glass jar on top. The plant must be ventilated periodically to prevent rotting.
  3. After the roots appear, transplant into a ceramic or plastic pot.

Propagation by seeds is the longest process; seedlings can appear 60–65 days after planting.

Sowing should be done in early spring; a universal planting mixture can be used as soil. The seeds are placed at a depth of 1.5–2 cm, lightly moistened on top and covered with a glass container, which must be removed periodically to ventilate and moisten the soil.

Opt for fresh seeds that have been recently packaged, because bay leaves tend to quickly lose their germination quality.

Growing a leaf by separating suckers is an easy and quick method of propagation. When transplanting an adult plant, it is necessary to separate the “babies” with roots from it and plant them in a separate small container.

Harvesting cuttings

Laurel branches, which are taken from the middle or lower part of the shoots, must be cut into pieces of 6-8 cm. Each cutting must have at least 3 internodes and an oblique cut at the bottom. The first leaves are removed. And the top ones are cut off a little, leaving ½ sheet each for minimal evaporation of moisture.

How to properly cut a laurel stalk for propagation? When cutting, the knife should be moved slightly short of reaching the end of the shoot, and then tear off the bark with adjacent tissues. You will get a heel located slightly below the knot.

Laurel propagation by cuttings: preparation of planting material

Compared to lemons, growing a bay tree in your home or office is quite easy.
The plant takes root wonderfully even on the north side, where there is not much light. Interestingly, after 2 years, the plant will already have full-fledged leaves that can be used as a spice. Laurel propagation by cuttings begins with the preparation of planting material. It can be purchased at the store or taken from an adult plant. Typically, cuttings are prepared in the spring or in the first month of summer, when the tree has completely recovered from its winter state. It is best to use planting material from annual stems that have not become lignified.

In order for laurel cuttings to be successful, young branches are cut into small pieces of about 8 cm. Each of them must have at least 3 internodes (free spaces between the leaves). The lower part of the branch should be cut at an oblique line.

When preparing cuttings, the branches must be cut with a sharp knife, but not reaching the end of the branch. The rest of the part is slightly torn off along with the bark to form a “heel”.

Leaf plates that are closer to the cut must be removed. It is enough to simply cut the upper ones, leaving half a leaf on the branch. This procedure is done so that the plant does not lose a lot of moisture.

An easier option for propagating laurel by cuttings is to purchase planting material in a store. Usually they sell already rooted branches that can be immediately planted in the ground. But it is advisable to examine them carefully to notice any damage or pests, for example, scale insects. In addition, they must be elastic and saturated with moisture.

In the substrate

How to root a laurel cutting? This can be done in the substrate. It is best to choose coarse sand. A mixture of turf soil and sand is also used (first you need to place drainage in the container, then turf soil, and then sand). Then the substrate should be moistened and the cuttings should be planted to a depth of 1-1.5 cm based on a 10 x 10 pattern.

To ensure good interaction between the cutting and the sand, the latter is compressed with your fingers. And to maintain the required air humidity, you need to pull a plastic bag over the top of the container. The rooting procedure is difficult, so before placing the cut cuttings in the substrate, they need to be treated with a growth stimulator.

The pot should be placed in a mini-greenhouse or covered with a jar. The suitable temperature is from +24 to +25, otherwise rooting will take longer. Every day the cuttings are sprayed with water and ventilated. Thanks to such conditions, the laurel will be grown healthy and beautiful.

It is necessary to follow the cutting technology, and then in a month the shoots will have roots. When this happens, they are transplanted into 7 cm pots with the same substrate and care regime as with the seed method.

In water

Laurel propagation by cuttings can also be done in water. A regular jar or bottle will do for this. Although many people consider this method not so reliable, it is suitable for propagating laurel and many other plants.

To do this, you need to fill a jar with 5 cm of water and place the cutting in it. The container should be left in a dark room without changing the water (you can only top it up). Some gardeners report that this method works great. But there are also those who complain that the cuttings are rotting.

Before placing the cutting in a container, it should be kept in a root formation stimulator for a day, immersed by 2-3 cm. To ensure a high-quality result of the procedure, an aquarium liquid containing valuable biological substances is best suited.

The soil

When considering the topic of propagating laurel by cuttings at home, you should familiarize yourself with the rules for choosing soil. Landing is easy. But you still need to choose the right soil.

The best soil mixture includes 2 parts: 3-4 cm of turf soil below, 2-3 cm of sand on top. It is advisable to choose a light carbonate mixture, which is available in gardening stores. From the planting period, you need to replant the plant annually, using the same soil composition. When the tree is 5 years old, replanting is performed every 4 years.

Landing rules

Cuttings should be planted in small pots. The size of the containers should be increased as the plant grows. Landing is carried out as follows:

  1. A drainage layer is placed at the bottom, then soil is filled in.
  2. The cuttings should be removed with roots from the previous place and placed at a depth of 2 cm.
  3. A little sand is poured on top, after which the soil is slightly moistened.

Do not immediately fill the laurel with water. Excessive humidity leads to the appearance of fungal diseases. These are all the nuances of propagating laurel by cuttings at home. After this, you just need to properly care for the plant.

Difficulties

Laurel is an unpretentious plant, so it can take root at home. But unpleasant situations may still arise. Usually the plant is exposed to pests and fungal infections.

Laurel diseases appear from excess moisture. Excessive watering causes scale insects, mealybugs and spider mites. A symptom of the disease is a change in the healthy shade of the foliage - it becomes pale and covered with spots of brown shades.

If these problems occur, diseased areas of foliage should be removed. After this, the plant is transplanted. In this case, you need to throw away the old soil and prepare a new one.

Top dressing

For fertilizer, complex organic and mineral compounds are used, sold in special stores. Some gardeners believe that mullein solution is effective for these purposes, but if the dosage is slightly violated, the roots will burn, so this method should be abandoned in the initial stages.

It should be borne in mind that propagating laurel by cuttings is a long and painstaking process. And if you urgently need a full-fledged plant, then it is better to buy a ready-made bush. In the future, it can be propagated using the described method of cuttings.

The fresh foliage of an exotic indoor tree will enliven any room, be it an apartment, house or office. Therefore, propagation of laurel by cuttings attracts the attention of many gardeners who are ready to painstakingly grow this pretty plant. Biologists say that the fragrant leaf blades of laurel release phytoncides into the environment, which purify and refresh the air. As a result, various types of fungi or harmful bacteria do not grow in the room. In addition, the housewife will always have the freshest spice at hand.

At home, laurel will grow to about 2 m in height or higher.

How to propagate and grow laurel in the garden

As the experience of gardeners shows, laurel can be grown in open ground in central Russia. To do this, you should choose seedlings 2-3 years old, which are planted in the ground in the spring, with their root collars deepened into the soil by 10 cm.

In late autumn, shortly before the onset of frost, laurel bushes should be trimmed, leaving 10-15 cm above the soil surface, hilled up and mulched. As soon as snow falls, in order to protect the laurel as much as possible from freezing, it can be covered with snow. Next year, with the onset of spring warmth, the laurel root should be opened, which will allow the underground buds to actively begin to grow, forming a lush shrub.

Attention! Possessing strong restorative properties, laurel can grow up to 3 m in height during the growing season.

An equally effective way to grow laurel in gardens in central Russia is to plant it in shallow trenches. With this growing method, the above-ground part of the bush will freeze out every winter and recover with the arrival of warmth. To avoid freezing of the above-ground parts of the plant, some gardeners recommend using foam boxes to cover the bushes.

When growing laurel bushes in the garden, it can be propagated using cuttings or seeds.

  1. When propagating laurel by seed, its seeds should be sown immediately in the harvesting field, since they quickly lose their viability. The seed depth is 4-5 cm. Before planting, the hard shell should be removed from the seeds. When seedlings appear, to avoid crowding, they should be thinned out, maintaining a 6-8 cm interval between plants.
  2. A simpler and more productive way to propagate laurel bushes in the garden is the method of propagation by layering. To do this, the branches should be pinned to the ground, deepening the rooting site and sprinkled with a layer of fertile soil.

Methods for rooting cuttings

When the planting material is already in hand, it is important to start rooting it. There are two available methods on how best to do this: in soil and water. First, let's look at how to root laurel cuttings on a substrate. To do this, first prepare special soil. You can use any of these options:

  • mix half-and-half turf soil with marsh moss;
  • take one part of sand and the same amount of turf soil;
  • mix sand with marsh moss;
  • prepare coarse sand.

When the choice is made, it is advisable to disinfect the soil with hot water. Sand can simply be calcined on fire. The procedure will protect the cuttings from harmful bacteria. A drainage made of broken bricks, pebbles or expanded clay must be placed at the bottom of the container. Then a shoot from a bay leaf is planted in the prepared substrate. The plant is lowered into the soil by 1.5 cm, lightly squeezed, slightly moistened, and then covered with polyethylene. At home, you need to carefully monitor it so that it takes root well.

To avoid contact of the cutting with the shelter, it is advisable to install small protective pegs.

For better rooting, the sprouts are treated with growth stimulants, after which the containers are placed in small greenhouses. The optimal room temperature should be approximately +25°C. Young sprouts are sprayed with water every day and ventilated, removing the plastic covering. Thanks to this care, after a month the cuttings will develop roots. Then you can safely transplant them into a new pot.

But how to root cuttings in water to grow an exotic tree at home? Someone might think that this method is not particularly reliable for such a plant. In fact, it is enough to adhere to the basic operations for the plant to take root successfully. And then it will be able to delight its owners with spicy leaves all year round.

All you need to do is take a small container, pour water into it to about 5 cm in height and place the cutting there. Tara is taken to a dark place. Throughout the entire rooting period, the water is not changed, only topped up periodically as needed.

Methods for planting laurel in the country

There are two ways to plant and propagate bay leaves in your dacha:

  • from seeds;
  • vegetatively (rooting cuttings and layering).

Both methods give good results, but at home, when there is nowhere to take cuttings, laurel is most often planted with seeds. Also, if possible, ready-made seedlings can be purchased at a nursery, which will speed up the process of growing and obtaining a harvest of fragrant leaves. Planting of seedlings is carried out in spring or autumn. Let's take a closer look at how to plant this noble plant on your site.

Growing laurel from seeds

Laurel seeds have a high germination rate (up to 95%), but only fresh ones. You need to have time to use them within 6 months after collection. Due to the large amount of essential oils, they germinate a little slowly and for a long time, but almost everything.

You can slightly extend the shelf life of seeds until the next season by putting them in the refrigerator.

You can plant seeds:

Directly into open ground. They do this immediately after collecting them, or purchase fresh seeds and sow them in the garden at the end of autumn. They overwinter in the soil, and germination begins with the onset of stable heat (at least 20°C), at the end of spring. When the seedlings grow up, they need to be thinned out and transplanted to a permanent place in the fall.

In pots for seedlings. You should start sowing seeds at the end of January - beginning of February. Small containers are filled with light and nutritious soil and the seeds are sown. There is no need to deepen them much, 1.5 cm is enough. Until the sprouts appear, the pots are kept under film, periodically ventilating the greenhouse and moistening the soil

When the seedlings grow up, they can be thinned out or immediately carefully planted in separate flowerpots for growing. Strong seedlings are planted in the garden already in the current season.

Plants should definitely be covered for the winter. When growing in the middle zone, it makes sense to leave bay leaf seedlings to overwinter in the first year at home.

You can speed up the germination of laurel seeds by first clearing them of their protective shell and germinating them in damp sawdust.

When sowing in open ground during winter, this procedure is not carried out, otherwise the seeds will die.

Laurel tree cuttings

Young laurel shoots are very tenacious and take root well. By cutting, a new plant with its own root system is obtained in a couple of months. They begin the procedure in mid-spring or early summer, cutting twigs with green bark from an adult laurel that have not yet become lignified. They are divided into chibouks, each of which must have at least 3 internodes and an oblique lower cut. The leaves growing from below are cut off completely. At the top sheets, half of the plate is cut off to reduce moisture evaporation.

The cuttings need to be rooted in a soil mixture based on sand, deciduous soil and peat. Each is planted in a separate container, covered with a jar on top. After a couple of months, the rooted laurel cuttings can be planted in a permanent place.

How to grow laurel from cuttings

It is best to root cuttings in late autumn, choosing a healthy and well-bending lower branch. You need to make a groove next to the mature bush and place the cuttings in it, securing them with a staple. Sprinkle soil on top.

It is recommended to separate cuttings from the mother bush and replant them in the spring.

The earth is carefully raked and a new bush is cut off, while pinching its top.

Planting a bay tree using cuttings

After the sprout has produced enough roots, begin planting the plant. To do this, select a suitable container and soil. The pot should first be small in size with a hole in the bottom where the drainage layer will be placed. Then lay a layer of turf soil and sand on top. The ideal option for planting bay leaves from cuttings is to purchase a carbonate mixture at the store.

The process of planting a bay leaf in a prepared substrate consists of the following simple operations:

  • the pot with the cuttings is thoroughly moistened so that it can easily come out of the soil;
  • carefully remove the sprout and transfer it to a new place;
  • make a small funnel in the soil, 2 cm deep;
  • place a cutting in it;
  • covered with sand;
  • slightly moisturize.

To protect the plant from fungal infection, do not overfill it with water. It is better to do this in small portions as the top layer of soil dries. In addition, the laurel will not refuse regular feeding. Specialized stores sell various types of organic mixtures or mineral fertilizers. Some gardeners use a weak solution of mullein. In this case, you should be especially careful when preparing the substance and carefully follow the dosage.

Otherwise, the roots may simply burn and the plant will die.

The plant must be replanted into a new container every year. When he turns 5 years old, the procedure is done once every 4 years.

By placing several pots of laurel on the balcony, you will not only decorate the room, but also saturate the air with unusual freshness.

How to feed a bay leaf in a pot?

After you deepen the seedling into the ground (from a seed or a cutting - it doesn’t matter), it should not be fed with anything during the entire first year. Full feeding with organic matter (organic fertilizers) occurs starting from the second year of the laurel’s life.

In a professional flower shop you should purchase a universal mineral fertilizer, which is applied to the soil, based on the instructions and proportions on the package, once a month. If you do not regularly fertilize the soil of the laurel bush, the plant will survive this quite normally.

It is much worse for the laurel to regularly “feel” an excess of moisture in the soil. Don't worry if the bush grows slowly - this is quite normal for laurel. Every year after replanting, listen to the instructions for caring for the plant and you will notice its development.
