Composition and release form

“Alatar” contains two highly toxic substances that help quickly destroy all bugs in the garden. Thanks to the high concentration of substances that are lethal to insects, Alatar destroys entire colonies of pests.

It has two main forms of release: in ampoules and vials. The first option is suitable for those who are struggling with a local problem (for example, saving just one or two flowers), but the second is for larger-scale actions. Unlike many drugs that are available in tablet form, Alaktar can only be purchased in liquid form.

Active substance and mechanism of action

The two main substances in the product are cypermethrin and malathion. The first affects the insides of insects, while the second has a destructive effect on their outer shell. The product is so effective that one treatment is enough to get rid of most pests in the garden. Rarely does anyone decide to carry out more than two treatments using this product.

Purpose

The insecticide "Alatar, EC" is universal for protecting most crops (vegetables, fruits and berries, ornamental, flowers) from both sucking and gnawing insects (codling moths, white moths, cutworms, leaf rollers, aphids, Colorado potato beetles, copperheads, thrips, scale insects , whiteflies, weevils, etc.). It is also effective against herbivorous mites.

Most often, “Alatar, KE” is used in private household plots against pests of potatoes (Colorado beetle), cabbage (leaf-eating caterpillars), apple trees (codling moth, leaf rollers), tomatoes and cucumbers in protected soil (whitefly, aphids)

Successfully suppresses even resistant pest populations and has a synergistic effect. Sublethal doses repel (repel) many types of insects, which enhances the effect of the drug.

Hazard class and precautions

The insecticide is classified as hazard class 3 for humans and warm-blooded animals. For bees and inhabitants of reservoirs, hazard class is 1.

Therefore, the use of insecticide during the flowering period of plants is prohibited. You should also limit the number of bees within a week to a week and a half after spraying the plants. You should not spray this product near water bodies - closer than 2 km from the banks of water bodies.

From the moment of preparing the working fluid until the end of the work, you should wear protective clothing, protect your nasopharynx with a respirator, also use special goggles to protect your eyes, and put on latex gloves on your hands.

Do not eat, drink or smoke during treatment. After finishing work, you need to wash your hands with warm water and soap, and also take a shower.

Mechanism of action of "Alatar, CE"

The drug "Alatar, EC" is a pesticide of contact-intestinal action. It delivers a “double blow”, as it contains two active ingredients at once - malathion and cypermethrin, and from different chemical classes.

Malathion in the insect's body, under the influence of oxidizing agents, is converted into its corresponding analogue - the toxic poison malaoxon. However, malathion has a short duration of action of 5-10 days and is characterized by resistance. Which is compensated by the second active ingredient – cypermethrin.

Cypermethrin remains on treated surfaces for a long time up to 20-30 days, is resistant to high temperatures and is not destroyed by ultraviolet radiation. Works well against populations of aphids, whiteflies, etc., resistant to organophosphorus insecticides. The mechanism of action of pyrethroids is associated with disruption of the passage of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis of the insect and subsequent death.

Safety precautions when working with the drug

Considering that Alatar contains toxic chemicals, appropriate precautions must be taken.

  1. Work only in calm, windless weather. This will prevent the wind from spreading toxic particles throughout your garden.
  2. Protective clothing is a must. Moreover, the protection must be complete: overalls, gloves, headgear, respirator and goggles. All areas of the body must be covered so that drops of the solution do not even get on the skin. It is especially dangerous if the substance gets on the mucous membranes.
  3. Isolate the area from people and animals. These are necessary measures for their safety. If possible, limit animals' access to treated plants to prevent them from accidentally licking the chemical from the leaves.
  4. If you or someone you love accidentally took the drug, you need to act quickly. Immediately induce vomiting and then an ambulance. Do not neglect qualified medical assistance under any circumstances.
  5. The remaining product after treatment is disposed of. To do this, it is poured outside the site into a hole, which is immediately buried. Do not think about pouring the leftovers into a river or other body of water.
  6. After the procedure, wash your hands with soap several times and take a shower.
  7. The container in which the substance was diluted can no longer be used. But you can continue to dilute chemicals in it to treat garden plants.

Recommendations

1. For the safe use of the drug, it is strictly necessary to comply with dosages, application rates and waiting periods before harvesting (see regulations).

2. If repeated treatments are necessary, it is recommended to carry them out with other preparations based on other active ingredients:

  • imidacloprid (“Commander”, “Tanrek”, “Bison”);
  • thiamethoxam ( “Aktara” , etc.);
  • alphacypermethrin (“Chi-alpha”, etc.).

These drugs should be alternated. Currently, 2- and 3-component insecticides have become widely used (for example, the drug “Zhukoed, SK” based on three active components - alpha-cypermethrin, imidacloprid and clothianidin).

Compatibility and analogues of "Alatar, CE"

The insecticide "Alatar, EC" can be mixed with other pesticides, but in each specific case a preliminary compatibility check should be carried out, since, for example, cypermethrin is not compatible with alkaline pesticides.

As analogues, it is possible to use insecticidal preparations containing malathion and cypermethrin, both separately and together:

Insecticides containing MALTHIONAliot, Antiklesch, Iskra-M, Karbotsin, Karbofos-500, Medilis-Malathion, Profilaktin, Fufanon, Fufanon-Super, Foscon-55, Phenaxin, Tsipromal, etc.
Insecticides containing cypermethrin (including alpha/beta/zeta-cypermethrin and deltamethrin)Arrivo, Inta-Vir, Iskra, Medelis-AntiKlop, Medilis-Tsiper, Cyrax, Cypermethrin-25, Ectomethrin, FAS, Taran, Kinmiks, Alfatrin, Alfashance, Zhukoed, Forssyth, gel, Cy-Alpha, Zepellin, Decis, etc.

Storage and shelf life

According to the instructions, Alatar can be stored for two years after the production date. To do this, the ampoules or bottle must be placed in a dry, dark place. The room temperature should not fall below +5 and rise above +25 degrees. Otherwise, the chemical will lose its properties.

If you plan to treat plants, you need to prepare a working solution using all the liquid from the package. Once opened, the bottle or ampoule cannot be stored.

It should also be noted that the drug should not be left near food, grain, medicines, seeds, open fire sources or hot objects.

More information about this insecticide is given in the video.

Advantages and disadvantages of use

The benefits of application include:

  • It has low phytotoxicity for agricultural crops.
  • The two-component composition of the drug provides a wide coverage of insect pests.
  • The preparation contains an adhesive (surfactant), which prevents the solution from rolling off the leaves and being washed off by rain, which extends the period of protective action.
  • Low consumption rate - only 5 ml/10 l of water, which is enough to treat 1 hundred square meters.
  • The drug can be used as an “ambulance” in case of sudden and unexpected detection of insect pests.

A number of disadvantages :

  • The number of treatments is no more than 2 times, in order to avoid resistance.
  • High hazard class for bees, which requires the use of appropriate protective measures.

Restrictions and safety measures

The drug "Alatar" has an average degree of toxicity and, if the instructions are fully followed, is not dangerous for the treated plants and soil. The toxic substance stays in plants for about two weeks, and in the soil for up to 10 days.

Mandatory protective measures when using the drug include:

  • work only in personal protective equipment;
  • prohibition on processing plantings near open fire;
  • ensuring free access of air into the room when processing indoor plants;
  • absence of pets, aquariums with fish, etc. at the processing site; for fish, bees and a number of other beneficial insects, the drug poses a mortal danger;
  • Duration of work with the drug is no more than 3 hours.

Reviews about Alatar

The drug is in particular demand among gardeners and gardeners.

Last year I poisoned Colorado potato beetles. I had to do it 3 times during the season. It kills in a day, but then the pests appear again. It is unclear where they come from. Everyone is being bullied around them, but they survive.

I treated cucumbers, melons, and watermelons for aphids. The next day the plants were already clean. I did not notice any negative effect of the poison on growth or fruit formation. Good product!

I buy a bottle right away in the spring. I poison various pests all season long. I spray the garden, vegetable garden, flower beds. Once I even had indoor plants. Always helps. I work without a respirator and have never had any side effects.

The price of Alatar for a bottle of 25 ml is 73 rubles, you can buy an ampoule with 5 ml for 20 rubles. The drug is sold in specialized stores, hardware departments, and market outlets; it is possible to order via the Internet.

It is very simple to prepare a solution of the drug against bedbugs. To do this you should:

  • Dilute 5 ml of product in two liters of water. To ensure the correct dosage, it is best to use ampoules, since they contain exactly the same amount of substance.
  • As soon as this product is completely dissolved, you should add so much more water to the resulting solution so that the total amount is exactly ten liters.

Keep in mind that only cold water can be used to prepare this solution, since adding hot water promotes rapid evaporation of all active ingredients contained.

In the process of preparing Alatar solution to protect the premises from bedbugs, it is very important to take care of your own protection, as well as the protection of your pets. To do this, certain precautions should be taken:

  • When working with this product, you need special clothing - tight pants and a shirt that cover the body as much as possible, which must be washed thoroughly immediately after completing the entire procedure.

  • Be sure to take care of the safety of your eyes - special glasses will help protect them from toxic chemicals.
  • During the treatment of residential rooms, neither people nor pets should be present in them.
  • If you have aquarium fish, you need to stop the compressor for a while and cover the aquarium itself with a secure lid on top.
  • To prevent the smallest particles of this remedy from bedbugs from penetrating the body, it is not recommended to smoke or eat any food during this procedure.
  • In the event that your carelessness has led to accidental contact of a chemical substance on the surface of the skin, you must immediately wash it very thoroughly with a sufficient amount of soapy water.

Accidental ingestion of the drug into the body is very dangerous. If this happens, you need to immediately drink a large amount of warm boiled water with several tablets of traditional activated carbon crushed in it. And after using this drug, you should immediately try to induce vomiting. In this way, the body will be cleansed of harmful substances.
