The type of drug is a coccidiostat of the benzeneacetonitrile group.

Release form: solution.

Used for diseases: coccidiosis.

Analogues of the drug: Eimeterm Diclazuril.

Cost of the drug: 70 rubles for a bottle of solution with a capacity of 10 ml, 1545 rubles for 1 liter.

The therapeutic effect of Solikox depends on the properties of the active ingredient - diclazuril, which is active against all types of coccidia.

Solikoks is effective in minimal doses and does not lead to negative consequences even when the dosage recommended by the manufacturer is exceeded many times . The product is compatible with other veterinary drugs for birds; it can be used at high humidity and temperature. The use of the drug does not require changing the diet for chickens.

Description of the drug

The drug Solikox has been tested in practice by many farmers and has been invariably stored in poultry farmers’ veterinary medicine cabinets for many years. When breeding poultry, it is important to realize that timely treatment and prevention of infectious diseases is the key to the health and normal development of the livestock.

Coccidiosis is a dangerous disease for birds. Its development is provoked by coccidia that penetrate the intestines through contaminated water or food from relatives.

Solikox was created to destroy and stop the proliferation of coccidia in the body. Timely use of the drug saves birds from certain death.

The medicine is available in liquid form. This is a yellowish viscous mass, packaged in bottles with different volumes: from 10 ml to 1 liter.

The main active ingredient in the drug is diclazuril , which is recognized by experts as safe and incredibly effective. Oral administration of Solikox is effective in treating birds, pigs, rabbits and other farm animals. Diclazuril is excreted from the body 5 days after the last dose, does not cause mutations or pathologies, and does not contain hazardous substances.

Disease Prevention

The best prevention of parasite infection in poultry is ideal cleanliness:

  • isolation from contact with wild birds;
  • regular water changes and only clean food;
  • daily processing of equipment used for feeding;
  • regular cleaning of the chicken coop and its disinfection;
  • periodic cleaning of the yard using disinfectants, especially after rain.

But drug prevention should not be neglected. For prevention purposes, chickens are given the drug twice:

  • 2 weeks after birth (one day);
  • then - after 4 weeks (one day).

Upon reaching adulthood, prophylaxis with Solikoks is carried out once every 60 days.

Solikoks is effective only under favorable hygienic conditions for keeping poultry.

Properties of Solikox

In addition to the main - antiparasitic - effect, the use of Solikox for feathered animals has the following effects on the body:

  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antipyretic;
  • painkiller.

The drug has been tested for suitability and safety, does not cause developmental abnormalities or deterioration in the well-being of birds, and does not lose effectiveness even when taken together with other medications. After use, the drug is eliminated after 5 days, so birds should be slaughtered taking this time frame into account.

Solikoks effectively fights and destroys all types of coccidia that can haunt poultry.

Pharmacological properties

Diclazuril suppresses the development of all races of coccidia parasitizing poultry, pigs, rabbits, and ruminants. Parasites at all stages of asexual reproduction are most sensitive to Solikox.

Coccidiostatic is not only compatible with antiseptics, but enhances the antimicrobial effect of antibiotics and sulfonamide drugs.

Diclazuril does not accumulate in the body and is completely eliminated within 5 days. The drug is compatible with components of mixed feed, premixes, and feed additives.

Dosage for preventive purposes

Before using a medication, the farmer must become familiar with the principle of action and dosage of the medication, which may vary depending on the age and type of bird. The drug Solikoks is effective not only for chickens and other birds, but also for livestock. The drug is used both to prevent the disease and to treat coccidiosis.

For chicks

Solikoks is intended for oral administration, so the medicine is added to the water after thoroughly cleaning the drinking bowls. Considering the safety of the product, the drug can be used for chicks from an early age in order to prevent illnesses. The medicine is added directly to the water, and not vice versa. Instructions for use for broiler chickens say that the prepared solution can be used within 24 hours from the moment of mixing; in subsequent hours, use is not allowed for safety reasons. Preventive dosage - 1 ml/2 l of water.

It is recommended to give Solikox in small quantities in the following situations:

  • heatstroke in chicks;
  • a sharp increase in temperature, weakness;
  • increased humidity in the room.

For adult chickens

For mature, formed chickens, Solikox is used for prophylactic purposes once every 60 days. To protect birds from developing a deadly disease, farmers need to dilute 1 ml of the product in 1 liter of clean drinking water and place the prepared solution in the chicken coop. It is important to ensure that the birds drink the liquid.

Such measures will help prevent infection of the entire livestock. If birds already show signs of coccidia damage, you should use a more concentrated solution - 1 liter of product per 10 liters of water.

First aid kit

With the appearance of such birds on the farm, you need to make sure that you have all the necessary medications in your first aid kit, which will help prevent the occurrence of various diseases characteristic of this type of bird.

From the first days of life

Necessary drugs for the first aid kit:

  1. Ditrim copes well with infectious diseases. Prescribed for coccidiosis. For treatment, dilute 1 ml of the drug in 1 liter of water and give according to the scheme: 3 days, 2 days off and another 3 days of treatment. This product is mixed with water and given throughout the day. It is strictly forbidden to combine it with other antibiotics. It is eliminated from the bird’s body after 6 days.
  2. Metronidazole is used to eliminate coccidiosis, histomoniasis, and also get rid of various types of parasites. Its dosage is in the ratio of 20-25 mg of the product per 1 kg of broiler weight. This drug must be mixed with solid food and given to the chick, because the powder does not dissolve in the liquid mass at all and does not give any result after use. It is eliminated from the body after 2 days.
  3. Furazolidone is an antimicrobial agent that helps chickens get rid of diarrhea in the first days of life, as well as cure them of various intestinal infections. The drug is mixed with water or food at the rate of 3 mg per bird. The course of treatment is 8 days. But you should not exceed the maximum permissible dosage, since this leads to disruption of the life activity of domestic birds, and also entails its death. (see how to give furazolidone to broiler chickens)
  4. Baycox is prescribed in the presence of a large number of coccidia, because it acts quickly and effectively. Give to the chicken, after diluting 1 ml of the substance in 1 liter of water, for 2 days.
  5. Paudox is used as a safe remedy in the treatment of respiratory diseases, as well as diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a solution, 1 ml of which is mixed with 1 liter of water and given to broiler chicken for about 5 days. If there are side effects or allergic reactions, treatment is stopped immediately.
  6. Trisulfone is prescribed for coccidiosis. The solution is made in a ratio of 100 ml of the drug per 100 liters of liquid, and also in the presence of bacterial diseases. In the latter case, this product is stirred in the following ratio: 1 ml of the drug per 32 kg of bird weight. The duration of treatment is 5 days.
  7. Baytril fights salmonellosis and other bacterial infections. It is excreted from the body 4 hours after consumption. Dilute in water at the rate of 50 ml of liquid per 100 liters of water. For the normal functioning of the chicken's body, it is recommended to give probiotics along with baytril. (see Baytril instructions for use for chickens)
  8. Glucose is very important from the moment the chick is born. It is added to water in an amount of 10% of the total volume of liquid being soldered. It significantly increases the chick's immunity.

All of the above drugs skillfully form the necessary immune system, which is very important for broiler chickens from the first days of their existence, and also contribute to their normal further development.

Full filling

A first aid kit for broilers must necessarily consist of the following medications:

  1. Baytril is an antibiotic that can cure mycoplasmosis, salmonellosis, streptococcosis and other diseases.
  2. Vetom is a probiotic that improves the normal functioning of all organs and systems of broilers.
  3. Chiktonik is a complex of vitamins and minerals necessary for the full development of poultry.
  4. Gamavit increases the weight of the egg and promotes a better process of weight gain for the bird.
  5. Solikoks and Baykoks are effective in the fight against coccidiosis.
  6. Acolan improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and also resists the development of various diseases in it.

Instructions for use of Solikox for chicks

Solikoks is absolutely harmless, therefore it is used for chicks of different species: goslings, chickens and turkey poults. Before starting therapy, you should read the instructions that come with the medicine.

For the goslings

These birds have strong immunity and are extremely hardy. However, at a young age, goslings are often attacked by parasites and can easily become infected with coccidiosis. For treatment, veterinarians advise mixing 2 ml of Solikox in a liter of water and feeding the chicks with the medicinal solution. As an alternative, you can not dilute the drug in water, but mix it into liquid food to ensure that the goslings swallow the medicine.

For turkey poults

Turkeys, like geese, are unpretentious and hardy, but tiny turkey poults are more susceptible to disease than birds of other species. In this case, Solikox is used in advance to prevent the development of coccidiosis. If the turkeys are already showing signs of infection, the farmer urgently needs to stir 1 ml of the product in 0.5 liters of water and give it to the birds.

For chickens

Chickens are also at risk, so the use of Solikox is a real salvation in the fight against coccidia. The instructions for using Solikox for chickens say that the dosage is 2 ml/1 liter of water, which is given to the chicks for three days . When using Solikox for treatment, it is important to remember that the minimum duration of therapy is 2 days.

Application

Solikox is prescribed:

  • for the treatment of coccidiosis;
  • with heat stroke;
  • as a preventive measure.

Coccidiosis

Coccidiosis is a frequent “guest” in poultry farms. It is carried by wild birds, such as pigeons. But the reason may also be insufficient cleanliness of the enclosure, food and water.

The disease does not appear immediately. At the initial stage, the bird behaves as usual. This fact makes it difficult to catch the disease at the very beginning and prevent it from spreading to the entire herd (which, as a rule, happens quickly).

Symptoms of infection include:

  • loss of appetite;
  • apathy;
  • blue skin;
  • increase in goiter;
  • privacy (the bird tries to stay apart from its relatives);
  • bloody diarrhea;
  • chills in chickens (they are constantly looking for a warm place);
  • impaired coordination of movements.

Young animals under 2 months of age suffer the most. Chickens have not yet developed enough immunity to resist the disease. The parasites developing inside “take away” all the beneficial substances and further weaken the body, leading to exhaustion and death of the chick within 4-5 days.

Application for adult birds

Adult poultry, although they have strong immunity, are often at risk of becoming infected with coccidia, especially if they are kept in unfavorable conditions, graze freely, or come into contact with wild relatives. In case of an unexpected deterioration in your pet’s well-being, you should keep Solikox in your first aid kit, which effectively fights parasites.

Clear signs of the development of coccidiosis in birds are:

  • diarrhea;
  • loss of appetite;
  • weakness, depression, inactivity;
  • ruffled plumage;
  • closed or completely closed eyes, dejected appearance.

If these symptoms are detected, treatment should be started immediately. According to the instructions for using Solikox for birds, it is necessary to dilute 2 ml of the medication in one liter of water and offer it to the livestock. This is a prophylactic dose for individuals without obvious signs of infection. The reception period is 2 days.

If the disease has already reached an advanced stage, then a highly concentrated solution will be required: 1 liter of medication/10 liters of liquid.

In parallel with the use of the medicine, it is necessary to disinfect and clean the poultry house, otherwise the birds will become infected again. A solution of potassium permanganate or formaldehyde is used as a disinfectant.

Compatibility with other drugs

As mentioned above, Solikox combines well with other veterinary products. If the disease was caught at an early stage, then vitamins, for example, Tetravit, are included in the complex treatment.

You can find out how to give Tetravit to broiler chickens here.

If the disease has progressed to a more severe stage, then antibiotics are needed. For example, if chicks develop diarrhea as a result of overheating, then together with Solikoks they are given Levomycetin at the rate of 1 tablet per 1 liter of water.

We wrote more about the use of Levomycetin for broilers here.

The organisms of young birds, weakened by coccidiosis, are fed with vitamin complexes.

Chiktonik for broiler chickens is considered a highly effective drug with a wide spectrum of action. You can read about it here.

Contraindications and side effects

Solikoks is recognized as a low-toxic drug, so even if the dosage is exceeded, no side effects are observed in the livestock. In rare cases, if the dosage has been exceeded more than once, and the drug itself has been used for a long time, the bird may be poisoned.

As for contraindications to taking Solikox, use is not permitted only if the bird has an individual intolerance.

Traditional methods

Among the folk remedies for treatment, the following are distinguished:

  • Sulfur is added to regular food in a ratio of 50:1, this mixture is used for no more than 2 weeks;
  • arsenic in the feed in a ratio of 1:100 is added 4 times over 5 days with breaks of 3 days.

If a poultry farmer believes that he can get by only with folk remedies, then it is worth remembering that they are used only as auxiliary ones, and the main treatment should be with coccidiostats, solicox, because for chickens it is the most effective. When using the drug for broilers in the room with birds, it is necessary to maintain comfort and cleanliness, regularly wash drinkers and feeders.

Pros and cons of Solikox

Solikoks has a number of undeniable advantages, however, it also has minor disadvantages. The advantages of the drug include the following:

  • Simple and convenient way to use.
  • Safety - Solikoks does not harm the body of adult birds or young chicks.
  • The drug combines well with other medications without losing effectiveness.
  • It has no contraindications for use and does not cause side effects.
  • Sold at any veterinary pharmacy at a reasonable price.

Disadvantages of the product:

  • If the recommended dose of Solikox is exceeded for a long time, poultry poisoning may occur.
  • The slaughter of birds taking the drug is permitted only on the fifth day after the last use of the drug.
  • In the case of an advanced stage of coccidiosis, the use of Solikox may not bring the desired result.

During the preparation of the solution and other manipulations with the medicine, the owner must be protected with gloves. After completing the procedures, you should thoroughly wash your hands with antibacterial soap.

The best way to combat coccidia is to prevent the disease, which Solikoks copes well with. This is a reliable, proven drug without side effects, which has demonstrated high effectiveness in the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis.

Positive aspects of the drug

Easy to apply; Can be combined with other drugs; Easily mixed with any food; Does not linger in the bird’s body and is excreted well; Easy to purchase at veterinary pharmacies; Has no contraindications or side effects..

  • Solikoks acts on all types of coccidia in birds, pigs, rabbits, large and small livestock.
  • Its anticoccidiosis activity is higher than that of any other modern coccidiostat.
  • Solikox is a low-toxic drug. Repeated overdose does not lead to poisoning.
  • Solikox can be combined with any other veterinary drugs. It can be used in conditions of high temperature and humidity, under conditions of heat stress.

Preparation and storage rules
