According to archaeological data, roses have been growing on our planet for about 25 million years, of which 5000 years have been an object of not only worship, but also successfully grown by lovers of this beautiful flower. No matter how they call a rose - the queen of flowers, a flower of flowers, the scent of paradise... - and only the short duration of flowering can disturb the idyll of man and the rose.
However, this opinion is erroneous, because there are varieties of roses that bloom all summer and can please the eye for a long time.

Landing
To plant these bushes, it is necessary to select sunny places with the possibility of ventilation. Basically, all roses love light, with the exception of some varieties that feel great in the shade.
Roses feel best on the south and southwest side. You cannot grow roses in a swampy area that is subject to flooding or with high groundwater. They require loose, fertile soil with moderate moisture.
Heavy soil should be lightened by adding sand and peat, as well as humus of cow manure, making a fertile layer of at least 30 cm. When choosing a place for planting, you should consider the possibility of laying the stems for the winter so that they do not harm other plants.
You should choose the right seedlings. They should have 2-3 mature stems with a woody structure, with green, intact bark. They should have a powerful root system with numerous roots.
They need to be planted either in the fall, from September to October, or in early spring - from April 15 to May 15. Planting depth is 55-65 cm. If planted in autumn, you need to deepen it another 2 cm.
To prevent the seedlings from drying out and freezing, it is necessary to cover them with soil and sand up to 25 cm in height if planting in the fall. They also need to be closed for the winter, protecting them from severe frosts.
Before planting them in the ground, preparation is required. The day before, the seedlings must be soaked in water. It is necessary to remove leaves from the shoots and cut out damaged and immature shoots with pruning shears.
The roots should be shortened to 30 cm, and the same should be done with the above-ground part. Seedlings must be disinfected by placing them in a 3% solution of copper sulfate.
Direct planting begins with the preparation of holes; they should be dug 50x50 cm in size and at a distance of 2-3 m from each other. The roots of the seedling should be placed freely in the hole so that they do not bend upward, and the grafting site should be located at a 10-centimeter point from the soil level. Fill the hole with soil to a height of more than half and compact it a little so that it fits well to the roots, then water the seedling.
After absorbing the water, close the hole completely and hill the seedling to a height of 20 cm. In autumn planting with the influx of cold weather, the hilling height should be raised even higher. During spring planting, this mound will protect the seedling from wind and sun. If there is no rain, then such a seedling needs to be watered after 5-6 days.
After 3 weeks, remove the soil from the plant; this should be done in cloudy weather, excluding sudden temperature changes. If planting took place in the fall, then at the beginning of April it is necessary to rake the soil away from the bush and water it.
Make sure that the grafting point remains at a depth of 10 cm; new shoots will come from it.

In the spring, fertilize the rose with nitrogen fertilizers. Organic matter is optimal - compost, manure, humus. In summer, during the period of active flowering, the plant needs phosphorus and potassium, so apply complex fertilizers.
Preparing climbing roses for winter
Roses that bloom all summer are considered winter-hardy plants, but most varieties still need shelter for the winter. Under each flooring it is necessary to ensure the presence of an air gap, otherwise the bush will die not from frost, but from damping off of the root system.
It is recommended to start preparing plants for cold weather at the end of August. To do this, you should stop loosening the soil, watering the flowers and applying fertilizers. As soon as the night temperature reaches −4°C, it is recommended to begin covering the bushes. You shouldn’t do this before, so that the plants don’t start to get wet inside from excessive heat.
Preparation for shelter is carried out in stages in dry sunny weather:
- Flowers and foliage are removed from the bushes.
- The damaged part of the rose is cut off.
- Next, you should tie the whips and press them to the ground with a special device. As a rule, wooden boards are used for shelter.

Pruning a climbing rose
Thanks to timely pruning, the plant becomes powerful. In addition, through this procedure, you can realize any design ideas and give the bushes a unique image.
If you provide proper care, you can achieve a good growth of young shoots in the first year after planting.
Almost all varieties of climbing roses need shelter for the winter. As soon as the threat of spring frosts has passed, you should open the bushes and trim off the dead or frozen part of the plant.
The long part of the shoots should be spread on the surface of the ground, which will make it possible to examine the replacement shoots. Tying the bush to supports is possible only after the length of the shoots reaches 70-75 cm.
Old shoots are replaced by several fresh ones. As a rule, a small part (2-3 pieces) of one-year-old branches and about 4-5 two-year-old branches are removed.
In cases where a rose blooms several times in one season, flowering shoots should be left for several years. They begin to weaken only at the 5th year of life.
Important! It is recommended to inspect vegetative shoots during pruning because flowering tends to focus on last year's stems. Young shoots are removed to avoid thickening of the bush
