  • The Auria tomato has many names: Lady's whim, Manhood, Adam, etc. This is due to the unusual shape of the fruit. The variety can be found in catalogs under different names, but the main characteristics remain unchanged. The Auria tomato is famous for its high yield and excellent taste of the fruit.

    Characteristics and description of the variety

    In addition to the official name, Auria tomatoes can be found under the names:

    • Manhood;
    • Adam;
    • Ladies' Caprice;
    • Women's Joy.

    Sometimes the Zabava tomato is included in the list, but this is a separate variety, although it looks similar to the one in question.

    Auria tomatoes are indeterminate. In a greenhouse, bushes can reach a height of 2 m or more, in open ground their sizes are more modest - about 1.5 m.

    When describing a variety, they always point to liana-like shoots. They are really long, thin, bend well and can withstand loads. Typically, tomatoes form the trunk themselves, at the initial stages of development, which makes care easier.

    The first fruit cluster is laid above the 10-12th leaf, the subsequent ones appear every 2-3 internodes. The lower ones contain 6-8 ovaries, the upper ones can consist of 2-3 tomatoes. During the growing season, 5-6 clusters can fully ripen; there is no point in preserving the rest.

    Among the characteristics of the Auria variety, one should note the very long, thin, articulated stalks. They seem fragile, but support the weight of the tomatoes well.

    Tomatoes Women's Joy are red, have a characteristic shape, really similar to the male reproductive organ.

    The fruits are classified as pepper-shaped. But the characteristic shape of the Auria tomato also has a commercial name - banana-shaped. This means that the fruits are asymmetrical, not aligned in length or thickness, and may bend slightly.

    The Male Dignity tomato has pronounced swelling, which is clearly visible in the photo, and does not spoil the appearance, but adds piquancy to it. The nose is pressed inward and appears forked.

    The length of the tomatoes reaches 12-14 cm with a diameter of 3 cm. The average weight of the fruit is 100-150 g; larger and smaller tomatoes can be found in the bunch.

    Tomatoes have 2 chambers, few seeds, dense but juicy pulp. It is often used to make tomato paste and sauces.

    The fruits fit easily into the jar and are convenient to eat. This makes the variety ideal for whole canning. According to reviews, tomatoes have an excellent aroma and taste. They are good in sliced vegetables, salads, and served whole.

    The yield is about 5 kg per bush. This is a good indicator for pepper tomatoes. The variety is transportable and lightweight.

    Fruit processing

    Auria tomatoes have specific fruits that are not suitable for fresh consumption. The vegetable is dry but meaty. Due to the small amount of water, the tomato pulp does not crack during heat treatment. Meatiness has a good effect on the consistency of tomato paste. The pureed puree does not need to be boiled for a long time to evaporate the water. The taste of a tomato is revealed only after processing. The finished paste acquires a sweetish taste. It becomes tender and very thick.

    Canned fruits from a jar retain their shape, remain elastic and look beautiful on the table. Lightly salted tomato pulp retains a pleasant sweet and sour taste. Auria will deservedly take pride of place on the festive table.

    Timing of sowing seeds

    Tomato Male Dignity medium late. From the appearance of friendly shoots to the ripening of the first fruits, at least 110 days pass. The time period from the moment of sowing the seeds to transplanting into a greenhouse or soil is 60-65 days.

    Auria tomatoes are placed in beds exclusively in the southern regions, when the ground warms up to 15° C. Usually this happens no earlier than the beginning of May. In other regions, the variety can only be planted in a greenhouse, otherwise the fruits simply will not have time to ripen. The optimal time occurs when the soil warms up to 10° C.

    Based on this, the timing of growing seedlings in different regions should be calculated:

    • in the Moscow region and the Center, tomato seeds Manhood should be sown from mid to late March;
    • North-West, Siberia, Ural - late March or early April;
    • southern regions - for open ground mid-to-late February, or 2 weeks earlier to plant tomatoes in greenhouses.

    The weather in Siberia and beyond the Urals is unpredictable. Auria tomato seeds are sown there at the same time as for the Leningrad region. But gardeners need to be prepared that the planting material will outgrow - thaws are often replaced by cold snaps, and the deadline for moving to the greenhouse is delayed.

    Features of caring for the variety in the ground

    Tomato Ladies' Caprice requires cultivation on 1 sq. m 2-3 bushes, formation into 1-2 trunks, removal of stepsons. The tops of the shoots are pinched after 6 fruit clusters appear - the rest will not have time to ripen anyway, but the lower ones will be larger. When the tomatoes begin to fill up, the leaves are thinned out, leaving 2-3 pieces for each bunch.

    In greenhouses and in the ground, Auria tomatoes must be tied to a support. The vine-like thin shoots are flexible and strong enough not to break; they will simply lie on the ground.

    The variety is drought-resistant, but requires regular watering. If the soil is not moistened evenly, the fruits that have begun to ripen may crack.

    Auria tomatoes are fed at least three times per season:

    • in the holes when planting with a complete mineral complex with a predominance of nitrogen;
    • during mass flowering;
    • when the fruits on the lower cluster begin to color.

    The second and third feedings require a high content of phosphorus, moderate - potassium, minimal - nitrogen. If the tomato develops poorly or shows signs of starvation, the composition of the fertilizers is adjusted. The Auria variety responds well to foliar feeding. It is recommended to give them together with epin or zircon no more than once every 2 weeks.

    The soil under the tomatoes is loosened, weeds are removed, and mulched. Greenhouses must be ventilated daily.

    Transfer

    Transplantation of tomatoes of the Auria variety is carried out at the stage of appearance of 5-6 leaves and reaching a height of at least 25 cm.

    Site preparation

    About two weeks before planting the seedlings, carefully prepare the area - add the following composition per 1 m²:

    • a bucket of humus (compost);
    • 3 kg of wood ash;
    • 100 g superphosphate;
    • 80 g of potassium nitrate.

    If the soil is acidified, add an additional 300 g of dolomite flour or slaked lime per 1 m². After this, the bed is dug up, leveled and generously spilled with water with the addition of 15 g of copper sulfate.

    ():

    Soil deoxidation is carried out long before seedlings are planted, usually in the fall. The chemical reaction of neutralizing soil acids proceeds slowly. In this case, it is impossible to add manure or humus at the same time as lime or dolomite flour, because In this case, insoluble and therefore useless salts for plants are formed.

    The latter component has a disinfectant effect and effectively destroys pathogenic microflora accumulated in the soil.

    Planting scheme

    Choose a sunny, elevated place where there are no winds or swamps. The best predecessors are lettuce, legumes, beets, carrots, onions and garlic.

    Tomatoes of the Auria variety need space, so no more than 5 bushes are planted on a plot of 1 m². This condition applies to planting both in open and protected ground. The distance between bushes is at least 40 cm, in a row - about 60 cm.

    Proper care will ensure you a good harvest

    Before planting, each hole is spilled with water, and stakes are driven in nearby for support. When the moisture is absorbed, lower the roots of the plant, cover it with soil and lightly compact it in the stem area.

    It is better to plant seedlings in the evening or early in the morning, when the sun has gone down, otherwise the tender sprouts will receive severe burns, wither, and then turn yellow.

    Care

    Considering the characteristics described above, this variety is unpretentious in care, so growing it will not be difficult even for a novice gardener.

    1. Regular moistening is necessary for the active growth of the above-ground and underground parts of tomatoes. The first watering is carried out a week after planting. The procedure is carried out only as the soil surface dries. Use settled water. 5-6 liters of water are poured under one plant. When watering, it is important that moisture does not fall on the stems, leaves and flowers, otherwise they may rot or get burned in the sun. Many people use a drip irrigation system, which provides moisture in the required quantity and at the right time.
    2. Loosening after watering keeps the soil light. This procedure is combined with weeding and weed removal.
    3. To avoid drying out of the soil and root system, after loosening the tomatoes can be covered with garden soil.
    4. Pinching will help to form the correct shape of the bush and get a high-quality harvest from it. The plant is formed into one stem, all other shoots and stepsons are removed.
    5. As the bush grows, it is tied to a support to prevent the stem from breaking off under the weight of the fruit.
    6. To increase the yield, the Auria tomato variety needs to be fed three times. The first fertilization with a urea solution (1 tablespoon of substance per 10 liters of water) is carried out a week after transplantation. After 3 weeks, a second feeding with complex mineral fertilizers is carried out. The third feeding is carried out at the beginning of the flowering period. Add a solution of superphosphate (1 tbsp) and potassium nitrate (1 tbsp) to a bucket of water. 1 liter of nutrient liquid is poured under each bush.

    Resistance to diseases and pests

    The Auria tomato is affected by pests at the level of other varieties. In open ground, the greatest danger is the Colorado potato beetle, in greenhouses it is the whitefly.

    The plant is resistant to all rots, except for apical rot. Some fruits may be damaged; they must be removed in time so that others do not become infected.

    It is recommended to include preventive treatments with insecticides and fungicides in the care package.

    Application area

    Although, according to the description of the originators of the variety, its fruits are of universal use, they are not juicy enough and practically without sourness, therefore they are not good enough for preparing vegetable salads, but they can be stuffed. It is best to use these elongated tomatoes for canning - the fruits do not burst during heat treatment, look beautiful in jars, and the marinade gives the tomatoes the missing sourness.

    The fleshy fruits of the Auria tomato make a good tomato paste, since the fruits have little moisture and do not need to evaporate the puree for a long time.
