Any separate containers (volume no more than 200 ml) or seedling boxes are suitable for sowing hatched seeds. There are also no special nutritional requirements for the soil. The main thing is that it should be light, moisture- and breathable.

• Take the sprout with tweezers and place it in a container on the surface of the soil.
• Sprinkle with soil with a layer of 1-2 cm
• Firm with your fingers and pour over.

Secret 4. Care for the seedlings

After sowing, the containers should be placed in a warm, dark place. The ideal temperature for germination is approx. 22 °C.

1. When shoots appear, immediately move the pots to a bright place.
2. The seedlings need to be watered regularly, without drying out or flooding the soil.
3. We recommend maintaining the night temperature within 16–18 °C.

It is important to choose capacious containers, prepare nutritious soil, and not miss picking dates.

When to dive?

We pick the tomatoes after the third true leaf appears.

What kind of soil is needed for picking?

Grown-up seedlings are more capricious regarding the composition of the soil and require more fertile soil.

We suggest preparing a nutritious soil mixture for seedlings with your own hands according to our signature recipe:

• 3 parts vermicompost,
• 2 parts river sand,
• 1 part neutralized peat,
• 1 part perlite.

Mix everything and fill the containers.

What containers should I dive into?

When picking, you will need larger pots with a volume of at least 0.8–1 liters.

How to dive?

1. Pour some potting soil mixture into the container.
2. Transfer the seedlings with a clod of earth and fill the remaining cavities with soil.
3. Compact, water and put in the brightest place.

Do not overwater or overdry, provide the seedlings with light. And the seedlings will definitely grow super!

How to grow and care for plum tomatoes

Cultivation of a plum-type tomato begins with choosing a variety. It is selected so that the fruits have time to ripen on the bushes in a particular climate. Low-growing tomatoes are more often suitable for cultivation on a balcony or windowsill. They develop well in open ground.

For greenhouses, tall varieties are needed that produce a large number of tomatoes per square meter.

Cream is grown using seedlings in almost all regions. Seedlings 60 days old are ready to develop successfully and bear fruit on time. They are planted in indoor or open ground in late April - early May. Holes measuring 30 x 30 x 30 centimeters are made in the soil, and 50 grams of wood ash are poured into them. On poor soils, add 500 grams of humus.

After planting plum tomatoes bushes:

• water regularly;
• feed first with organic matter (mullein or bird droppings), then with mineral fertilizers;
• remove stepsons that have reached a length of 3-5 centimeters;
• Tall bushes are tied to pegs or trellis.

It is necessary to harvest the cream on time as it ripens. It is better for the fruits to ripen on the stems rather than ripen indoors. This way they will taste better.

MIRACLE OF BREEDING - BLUE TOMATOES

Back in the 1960s, breeders managed to develop several successful varieties of tomatoes with blue fruits by crossing the Black Prince variety with a wild tomato species from Chile and the Galapagos Islands. But the popularity of these tomatoes came much later, when scientists discovered that their fruits are very beneficial for human health.

In particular, they improve the functioning of the heart and brain, cleanse the blood of cholesterol plaques, and fight cancer cells. In addition, blue tomatoes have anti-inflammatory properties, have a beneficial effect on skin condition and help strengthen the immune system. These properties are associated with the content of anthocyanins in blue tomatoes, which are antioxidants.

The presence of such plant pigments also explains the riot of color of the fruit. The part exposed to direct sunlight turns blue and when fully ripe becomes purple-black. The other part of the fruit (the top) is red-pink, orange or even striped, depending on the variety. Tomatoes of all blue-fruited varieties are very beautiful and look decorative in the garden. They are sweetish and a little unusual, but pleasant to the taste.
