Heteroauxin is a completely natural, organic drug.
Proper use of the stimulant will never harm plants. Another name for heteroauxin is beta-indoleacetic acid or IAA. The most powerful activator.
Externally, it is a white powder with a crystalline structure. Separately for garden plantings they are produced in the form of potassium salts, the chemical reaction is neutral. Sometimes it can be found in tablet form. In this form it is more convenient to use the product. In one tab. contains 0.1 g of the main substance.

Application area
So, now a little more detail about what Heteroauxin can be used for:
- cuttings;
- to protect cuttings from mold and late blight;
- to restore plants that are at the stage of death;
- for processing seedlings before planting;
- stimulation of root formation;
- for good and quick survival of plants in a new place;
- for the regeneration of crops after injury.
Heteroauxin is able to completely restore damaged bark. To do this, you need to moisten the affected area with the solution. In addition, it helps the seedlings’ immune system become stronger and actively prevent diseases and absorb nutrients.

Each crop has its own consumption rate for the Heteroauxin stimulant. It must be observed so as not to harm the plantings.
One of the main disadvantages of the drug Heteroauxin is its poor solubility in water.
To make a solution, first dissolve the product in 70% alcohol. And it is already mixed with water. Also, Heteroauxin is not a complete replacement for organic fertilizers. Therefore, even when using it, it is worth applying fertilizers in accordance with the plan. Its functions do not include enrichment or improvement of soil composition.

Preparation of working solution
The drug has a third hazard class, and therefore is not toxic to people and animals. However, when preparing Heteroauxin solution, standard safety precautions should be observed, namely:
- do not drink, smoke or eat while working with the drug;
- avoid contact of the substance with mucous membranes and inside the body;
- Upon completion of treatment, wash your face and hands thoroughly with soap.
The instructions for use of Heteroauxin do not indicate one important nuance: the drug is practically insoluble in ordinary tap water. To obtain a working solution you will need ethyl alcohol (70%) or regular vodka. The cooking process will look like this:
Grind the Heteroauxin tablet to a powder and pour the resulting powder into a prepared container with a tight-fitting lid.
- Fill a medical syringe with 10 cubes of alcohol or vodka and add it to the container with the drug.
- Cover the container with a lid and heat it in a bowl with hot water (+60...+70°C).
- Shake the solution periodically and briefly remove the lid from the container to release steam. When the drug is completely dissolved, remove the container from the water and use the prepared solution for its intended purpose, bringing it to the required volume.
Many people note that Heteroauxin dissolves well in mineral water and boiling water. You can try to dilute the drug by packing the tablet in a bag made of microporous synthetic fabric (for example, made from nylon tights) and hanging it in a vessel with very soft water (no higher than 8 German degrees of hardness).
How to properly treat plants with Heteroauxin
Plants should not be sprayed with a solution or used in powder form for pollination or rubbing.
There are the following options for using Heteroauxin:
- immersing the cutting in the solution for 3 seconds;
- soaking the root system or cuttings from 10 minutes to 24 hours;
- watering with a low concentration solution;
- treatment of the root system with a peat-clay mixture based on a Heteroauxin solution.

The working solution must be used within 48 hours.
Alternatively, you can make a highly concentrated solution for multiple applications. You will need 2 tablets, 0.02 ml of alcohol. Dilute and store in a dark glass bottle. The final solution is prepared by adding 2 ml of concentrate per 5 liters of water.
Heteroauxin for grapes
For this crop, Heteroauxin is used in less than comfortable climate conditions. When the climate is favorable, then additional funds are not needed.
The stimulant has proven itself well for vaccinations. Survival occurs better and faster. You will need 10 tablets per 1 liter of water. The result is a very concentrated solution. However, just right for grapes. Before the grafting procedure, all sections are carefully treated with a cloth soaked in the working solution. For 500 vaccinations you will need 1 liter of solution.

Be sure to follow the dosage. Excess will lead to rotting of the cuttings, and deficiency will lead to drying out.
For weakened grape cuttings, there are 2 options for using Heteroauxin solution:
- for wetting;
- for soaking.
Storage Features
The phytohormone can be stored under appropriate conditions for 3 years from the date of release. To keep the drug safe, you must adhere to the following rules:
- the product must be in sealed original packaging;
- Children and pets should not have access to the storage area;
- choose a dry and dark room;
- storage temperature is maintained in the range from -5 to +30 °C;
- Food and medicine must not be placed near the substance;
- Once opened, the contents must be used the same day.
Heteroauxin and Kornevin: which is better
Among gardeners there are those who use both drugs. Kornevin scores slightly higher. Probably due to its long-lasting effect. Heteroauxin is good as an express method when restoration is required in a short time.
It’s easier to prepare Kornevin:
just dissolve it in water, and then dip the roots or immerse directly in the powder. Heteroauxin is first diluted in alcohol, heated in a “water bath” and then combined with water.
Orchid processing
The use of Heteroauxin for orchids is an emergency measure, justified only if the plant is clearly dying, and other methods of resuscitation do not have any effect. In other words, it is necessary to use a stimulant if there is nothing left to lose. It must be remembered that the drug has a very strong effect and can easily destroy the flower even if the dosage is slightly exceeded. In most cases, Kornevin is recommended to stimulate root formation of orchids (especially phalaenopsis).
If you still decide to root phalaenopsis using Heteroauxin, you must do this according to the following instructions:
- Thoroughly clean the neck of the orchid from any remaining dry leaves and remove any remaining rotten roots (if any).
- Dissolve 1/6 of the Heteroauxin tablet in a liter of water and immerse the neck of the plant in the liquid so that the level of the solution does not reach the lower leaves by at least 5 mm.
- Leave the orchid in the stimulator overnight, placing it in a dark place (do not forget that the drug quickly disintegrates in the light).
- Remove the plant from the solution, dry it slightly and proceed based on the condition of the flower and the chosen method of resuscitation.
Phalaenopsis without roots, as a rule, is not planted - this is simply pointless, since the plant will have nothing to anchor itself in the substrate.
Most often, orchids are rooted by hanging them over a jar of water or by placing them on moist sphagnum moss in such a way that subsequently the hatching roots are disturbed as little as possible. After the plant has at least 3 full-fledged roots, it is transferred to the usual substrate.
You can try rooting the orchid in vermiculite. To do this, the flower is soaked in a solution of Heteroauxin in the manner described, planted in vermiculite and lightly watered with the remains of the stimulant. The method is considered quite risky and requires some practice (primarily because it is difficult to get used to watering vermiculite), however, phalaenopsis quickly grows the root system in such non-standard conditions.

Heteroauxin analogs
There are substitutes for the drug Heteroauxin. And these are simple folk remedies. For example, nettles grown in May, potato juice, yeast, etc.
Take the tops of nettles, mash them in a mortar with a masher and pour warm water over them.
After 2 - 3 weeks, the super growth stimulator is ready.
The potatoes are first frozen and only after defrosting the juice is made in any convenient way. The seeds are soaked in the resulting juice for several hours.
An infusion of ash and onion peels is an excellent remedy.
The husks (about a handful) are poured with 500 ml of water at room temperature, add 1 tsp. ash. After 3 days the solution is ready. Used for soaking seeds. If you soak the roots and water the seedlings, dilute it halfway with water.
Yeast is one of the most effective natural growth activators. For 5 liters of water take 100 grams of dry yeast. The seedlings are soaked and watered.
Heteroauxin is a strong biological growth stimulator that makes roots strong and plants healthy. It significantly prolongs flowering and activates the immune system. They are used for both grafting and cuttings. Quickly revives damaged plants, preventing them from dying. The Heteroauxin product is used in accordance with the instructions, observing the consumption rates for each individual crop.
Precautionary measures
Potassium salt of β-IAA is a substance of hazard class 3, i.e. moderately dangerous. It is not volatile, but getting it on mucous membranes, skin and inside is unacceptable. When working with heteroauxin, you need to use PPE (latex gloves, plastic apron, goggles). In case of contact with eyes, rinse them thoroughly with clean water. If ingested, drink 1-2 liters of a slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate and induce vomiting. In both cases, consult a doctor immediately after emergency measures. Before use, heteroauxin should be stored in its original packaging out of the reach of children.
