Today, many gardeners are engaged in growing potatoes, for whom it is a profitable business or an opportunity to feed their family. Rosara potatoes are considered to be one of the best varieties, since they are distinguished by high yields and good taste and external qualities. But it is important to properly care for root crops - this guarantees a good harvest.
Description of the Rosara variety
The main advantage of potatoes is their ripening time and high yield. Plants develop as quickly as possible in the initial stages of the growing season; after the first shoots, root crops appear already on the 45-50th day. Tubers reach full technical ripeness in 65-70 days. The bushes reach medium height (50-55 cm), semi-spreading, with green foliage and small inflorescences of red-violet flowers.
The flower sprout is characterized by an ovoid shape with a slightly pubescent base. The marketable weight of tubers varies from 80 to 115 g. They are medium and large in size, oblong-oval, elongated in shape, similar to a drop. The tubers have a smooth, red skin with small bright red eyes.
Potatoes have light yellow flesh that tends to darken when cut and peeled, and darkens slightly when cooked. Rosara potatoes are well suited for boiling, but their taste is significantly reduced when frying and baking. It is better to use for preparing salads, first courses, and side dishes.
Description
Rosara forms a medium-spreading bush with pink-violet flowers. Its yield, early ripening, taste, resistance to diseases and adverse factors are better than those of the standard varieties: Zhukovsky Ranny, Gart, Pushkinets, Krasnoyarsky Ranny.
Characteristics of tubers
The oblong-oval tubers of Rosara are covered with a smooth red skin. The shade may vary depending on the composition of the soil. There are several small shallow eyes on the surface, which is a feature of table varieties. The pulp is dense, yellow.
The starch content depends on the amount of moisture and fertilizers that the potatoes received during the growing season and soil fertility. It ranges from 12.1-15.8% - this figure is considered below the standard, but not for early varieties.
The higher the starch content, the less the tubers are overcooked and the tastier the potatoes. For early varieties the norm is 10%.
Rosara forms one-dimensional, even tubers weighing 81-115 g. The taste of the variety is rated as good and excellent.
Productivity
The Rosara variety quickly forms tubers approximately 45 days after the appearance of full shoots. 202-310 centners are collected per hectare. Rosara potatoes reach their maximum yield in the Oryol region, where they produce up to 415 c/ha.
The yield of marketable products depends on the soil structure and agricultural technology, averaging 91-99%.
Disease resistance
There are no absolutely resistant potato varieties to diseases and pests. There are genetically modified hybrids that even the Colorado potato beetle does not eat. The Rosara variety is not a hybrid.
The characteristics of the variety are as follows
Disease, pest | Degree of stability |
Potato nematode, cancer | High |
Viruses Y and L | Satisfactory |
Blackleg | Moderate |
Late blight, scab | It is mildly affected, but to obtain a high yield it is better to do preventive treatment |
Colorado beetle | You will have to fight with chemical or folk remedies |
