Zarya Nesvetaya is a high-quality hybrid form of table grapes, obtained by the famous folk breeder from Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov region, Evgeniy Pavlovsky. The researcher has dozens of varieties he has bred, some of which were even honored to be included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. And among amateur winegrowers, Pavlovsky varieties and hybrids deservedly enjoy enormous popularity and respect.
In the rich list of achievements of Evgeniy Georgievich, our heroine occupies far from the last place. It is distinguished by its remarkable large fruit, elegant appearance, high yield, excellent sugar accumulation, excellent taste and nutmeg aroma of berries. What else is needed to win the love of a large army of fans? Of course, the form cannot be called complexly stable, but even the average resistance to unfavorable environmental conditions that it possesses is sufficient for problem-free cultivation by a winegrower who has at least a basic understanding of the agricultural technology of the crop.
The splendor of the aesthetic and gastronomic qualities of Zari Nesvetaya was, of course, passed on to her from her parents, for whom the breeder used the famous domestic variety Talisman, and the incomparable, but, unfortunately, grape that is rarely found in our areas - Cardinal. By the way, this is one of Pavlovsky’s favorite parental couples, from whom, in addition to our heroine, a number of his masterpieces originated. All of them, although different from each other, nevertheless, invariably delight their owners with high quality and productivity.
Advantages and disadvantages
Pros:
- Early ripening.
- Massive bunches.
- Pleasant unusual taste.
- High rates of disease resistance.
- Tolerates excessive moisture well.
- High yield.
- Versatility in use.
Minuses:
- Tendency to attacks by pests and birds.

Diseases and pests - methods of combating them
The variety is resistant to downy mildew, but is damaged by fungi and garden pests. Weevils and leaf rollers can cause significant harm, especially during the formation of inflorescences. For Zarya Nesvetaya, treatment with insecticides is an important measure; the availability of the crop and its volume depend on it.
The treatment is carried out 30 days before the grape harvest. To prevent damage by insects that penetrate deeply under the bark, in the spring they are cleaned of dead fragments, followed by burning away from the plant.
Origin
In 1985, E.G. Pavlovsky, by crossing the Cardinal and Talisman grapes, obtained a new hybrid - a stable and productive variety, Zarya Nesvetaya. The brainchild turned out to be early in maturity, transportable, shelf-stable and, most importantly, with an unusual, pleasant taste.
Parents of the “unlighted dawn” – “cardinal” and “talisman”
There is also a hybrid form called “non-light gift” from the parent pair “talisman” and “beauty,” but they should not be confused.
Care and planting
Requirements for care are standard, as well as for planting. For beginners, their implementation is not particularly difficult. The seedlings are planted in holes measuring 80 x 80 cm, filled with fertile soil, which contains humus, sand, ash, and mineral fertilizers.
Important!
The form is prone to overload and requires rationing of the load.
Starting from the 3rd year, the bushes are fed. They add organic matter (humus) and mineral fertilizers: potash in summer, phosphorus in autumn. To preserve moisture in the soil, tree trunk circles are mulched with old, rotten sawdust.
Young grapes (1-2 years old) are watered regularly, but bushes that have entered the fruiting season are watered not often. They are completely stopped at the time of flowering and during the period of filling the berries. Good ventilation of the bush is facilitated by proper formation. For this form, medium pruning (6-8 eyes) is recommended.
Main characteristics
“Zarya Nesvetaya” is a black table variety of very early ripening.
Ripening period
The hybrid “Zarya Nesvetaya” is an extremely early variety: the duration of its growing season is about 100 days, and in the southern regions of Russia and Ukraine – 80–85 days.
Bush
The bush is a tall and large plant with an elastic vine, which bears fruit for ¾ of its length. The preferred shape of the bush is a standardless multi-arm fan formation, which makes it possible to fully ventilate and illuminate the bunches, as well as cope with the insulation of the plant without difficulty.
The leaves have 3 lobes and have pronounced jagged edges. Their color is bright green with yellow streaks. Flowers are bisexual.
Important! The plant tolerates temperatures down to -23ºС, but requires mandatory insulation, as it does not tolerate such cold well.
Bunches and berries
The weight of one cone-shaped brush, depending on the quality of care, can vary between 600 g and 2 kg: the more properly the care is organized, the larger the bunch. The berries in the cluster are located tightly to each other, the bunch from the side looks like a single whole.
Large “dawn unlighted” berry in cross section
“Dawn Unlighted” has an interesting color that changes gradually depending on the ripening period: initially it is a light lilac color, which later becomes deep purple. The berries are slightly elongated, sometimes in the form of a sphere. Their average weight is 12 g. The pulp is juicy, but at the same time dense; The peel is thin, but quite capable of protecting the berries from mechanical damage. Each grape has 2–3 seeds. The sugar content in the juice is 20%, acidity is 6 g/l.
Taste and yield
The berry leaves an unusual pink-strawberry aftertaste. The average yield is 20 - 25 kg per bush.
Important! There is no need to rush into harvesting: the fact that the fruit hangs on the bush only enriches it with sugar and lowers the acid level, while maintaining all the commercial characteristics at the proper level.
Fruits can remain in the refrigerator or cellar for up to 2 months without loss of taste and marketing characteristics.
Description of Zarya Nesvetaya grapes
The Zarya Nesvetaya grape easily grows in the southern regions of the Don region and the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. It is also actively grown in the northern regions, but this is problematic due to the unsuitable climate; for this it is necessary to work to create optimal conditions for the growth and development of grapes.
By studying the presented photo of the Zarya Nesvetaya grape variety, you can determine its biological characteristics. This is a bush that grows strongly and creates a powerful, very tall frame that looks like a massive structure. The vines are prone to overload, but are stable; it is quite difficult to break this part on your own. The bright green leaves consist of three lobes and are distinguished by their medium size and clearly defined borders. The peduncles are universal and do not differ in anything remarkable from other varieties. The weight of the bunch is 600 grams, but if all agrotechnical practices are followed, it can be up to 1 kg.
The fruits of the Zarya Nesvetaya grape are ovoid in shape, with a dark purple hue. One berry can weigh on average from 12 to 16 g. It has a thin, dense skin and 2-3 unremarkable seeds. Due to its juiciness and massiveness, the berry is bitten with a characteristic crunch. The danger of large fruits is that they rest on fragile stalks, so you should be extremely careful so that when harvesting you do not lose at least half of the bunch in case of sudden movements. The sugar content is 20%, and the acidity level is 6 g/l.
Comparison with analogues
“Zarya Nesvetaya”, compared to similar varieties, is one of the best in technical indicators, in brush size, and in yield indicators.

How to plant correctly
The rules for planting grapes of the Zarya Nesvetaya variety include choosing a location, preparing the soil and purchasing high-quality planting material.
Recommendations for choosing deadlines
It is recommended to plant seedlings both in the fall, 5-7 weeks before the first frost, and in the spring, before the onset of the growing season.
How to select and prepare a site
For planting grape bushes, choose flat plots of land that are sheltered from gusty winds.
Grapes of this variety do not like constant sunlight; they grow and develop well in shaded areas. The plant prefers loose, chernozem soil with a low content of acidic substances. There must be lime in the soil.
Soil preparation:
- The selected area is dug up to a depth of 30-40 centimeters, while removing debris and weeds.
- The necessary organic matter and minerals are added to the soil.
- 4-6 weeks before planting, holes are dug 50-60 centimeters deep.
- When planting grapes, the large size of the bushes is taken into account, so the distance between plantings is left at least 1.5-2 meters, and row spacing up to 3 meters.
- A layer of drainage and prepared fertile soil mixture is poured into the planting hole and watered thoroughly.
Advice! To make it easier for seedlings to root and take root, wooden or metal pegs are driven into the holes. And for grown bushes, special support structures are built in the form of high arches or trellises.
How to select and prepare planting material
When purchasing planting material, pay special attention to the appearance of the roots of the seedlings. The rhizomes are well developed, with numerous shoots, without damage, tubercles or nodules. The trunk of the seedling is smooth, shiny, with the presence of buds or leaves.
A day before transferring to the site, the plants are soaked in a solution of water and clay, the roots are treated with an antibacterial agent.
Planting scheme
On the day of planting, the rhizomes of the seedlings are cut off, leaving only the longest and most developed branches.

Planting pattern:
- The plant is placed in the center of the planting hole.
- The rhizomes are carefully laid out in the hole and sprinkled with fertile soil.
- The soil under the plant is compacted and moistened abundantly.
- The seedling is tied to a support.
- The soil under the planted bush is mulched with a layer of compost or straw.
Important! There should be no voids left between the roots and the soil, which increase the risk of accumulation of pathogenic fungi, bacteria and insects harmful to plants.

Features of cultivation
“Zarya Nesvetaya” is a rather unpretentious variety, so even novice gardeners can grow it.
Landing
Planting work can begin in both spring and autumn. The main thing is that the weather conditions meet the required standards: +15ºС air and +10ºС soil. As a rule, spring planting occurs in April - May, depending on the region, and autumn planting occurs in October.
The ideal place for planting “unlighted dawn” is a flat, well-lit place protected from drafts. The variety tolerates slight shade normally, but does not tolerate acidic soils. If the soil pH is below 7 units, then it must be treated with dolomite and lime.
The plant responds well to planting in fertile soil. Fertilizer before planting is usually applied as follows: per 1 m2 of soil - 1 bucket of organic fertilizer and 400 g of superphosphate. Recommended hole dimensions are 0.8 m x 0.8 m.
Important! The recommended frequency of watering the Zarya Nesvetaya variety is once every 15 days. If the summer turns out to be rainy, then the amount of watering must be reduced. 2 - 3 weeks before harvest, soil moisture completely stops.
The variety responds well to watering, it loves moist soil, but you should not be zealous: excess moisture can trigger rotting processes on the roots and lead to the development of fungus. Therefore, it is quite advisable to carry out several “water procedures” according to plan: in early spring after wintering, after flowering and during the beginning of ripening of berries, in the fall before sheltering for the winter. The rest - as needed.
Fertilizing bushes can be done both by root and foliar methods. In the spring - nitrogen-containing fertilizers, in the summer - potassium and phosphorus. In the fall, organic matter will be relevant; it can also be used for mulching (for example, humus).
Reference! Treating the shoots before flowering and after the first harvest with a solution of boric acid will preserve the ovaries, preventing them from falling off.
Diseases and pests
The variety resists mildew well, and not bad against oidium, but in order to avoid troubles, the bushes will need to be treated with fungicide solutions for preventive purposes.
The real threat to grapes is various insects. Insecticides will help cope with bugs, leaf roller butterflies, and felt mites: Nitrafen, DNOC, Fufafon, Sumicidin, Tsimbush, Tocution, Bi - 58, Metphos, Ekamet. It is enough to identify the pest in a timely manner and immediately treat the plant and neighboring bushes - the harvest will be saved.
Another problem is the birds rushing to eat the sweet berries. Currently, there are a large number of different “scarecrows”, but, as a rule, birds very quickly get used to them and simply begin to ignore them. The most reliable way to protect brushes is to fence the bushes with durable mesh fencing.

Reviews
Zarya Nesvetaya is an excellent nutmeg, refreshing, memorable, does not spoil when overripe and becomes even sweeter. There is a little tartness in the taste, but it does not spoil it, but gives an even more refined taste, reminiscent of good wine. Valery, Dnepropetrovsk region.
A very interesting form of grape with early ripening. The clusters are large and elegant, practically without peas. The berries are approximately 10-12 g, oval, dark red in color. Market transportable form: firm, crunchy pulp with a nutmeg flavor. The form is productive, with good ripening of the vines to the very tips. No diseases were observed with standard treatment.
