Rose Pink Intuition is one of the most popular varieties of French selection with lush, luxurious flowers and original, multi-colored colors. This variety is widely popular among European flower growers; it is grown both in personal plots and used to create beautiful landscape compositions in squares and park areas.

History of selection

The rose variety Pink Intuition was developed relatively recently - in 1999 in France. A natural mutation of the Red Intuition rose variety was used as the starting material. The originator is the famous breeding company Delbar. They introduced the marbled novelty in 2003 as a cut variety. The densely doubled two-color masterpiece quickly won the sympathy of gardeners and quickly spread throughout Europe. It was patented in 2004, but was not included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation.

Comment! Rosa Pink Intuition received first place and gold at the competition in Lyon and an honorary bronze in Rome.

Having seen this delicate miracle once, it is difficult to confuse the Pink Intuition rose with other varieties

Description of the variety

This variety is suitable for landscape design like no other. Even a few bushes of this unusual rose will turn any area into an island of happiness. In 1999, Frenchman Georges Delbart developed an extraordinary variety of exquisite roses, Red Intuition. Among breeders, this flower is called “The most decorative hybrid rose.”

On a bush 1 m high there are lonely heads of exquisite beauties. The rose has absolutely no thorns. The leaves are medium in size and rich green in color. The gloss adds sophistication to the entire bush.

The buds are shaped like a glass. But the most impressive sight is the flowers. They are large and bowl shaped. Their colors are simply amazing: on a burgundy or red-garnet background there are many stripes, stains, and small spots in the same color scheme. The rose is also called “tiger”.

The terry coating on the petals gives it a special chic. The flowers look as if they were painted by an artist. The splashes and stripes are gracefully intertwined, creating the impression of a single color. Rose has a faint but pleasant aroma. In single plantings or mixes, this amazingly colored flower will be an accent. Flower growers recommend growing it in the foreground in flower beds, so that everyone who passes by can see this elegant terry miracle with striped colors.

The variety has a lot of undeniable advantages:

  • resistant to high temperatures and heat;
  • not affected by fungi;
  • high degree of frost resistance;
  • has continuous flowering;
  • the flowers look luxurious;
  • The aroma is delicate, unobtrusive.

The rose is planted on a summer cottage as a hedge, in flower beds. The buds open slowly, so they are in “good shape” for a long time. Red Intuition is great when cut and makes delightful bouquets and arrangements.

Description of hybrid tea rose Pink Intuition and characteristics

Rose Pink Intuition is a hybrid tea variety. Remontant, that is, capable of blooming twice in one season with a short break. The buds take a long time to ripen, gradually gaining the required volume. From the moment a flower bud appears until it blooms, it can take 10 to 20 days. But the flowers last incredibly long without losing their magnificent appearance. They can withstand rain, sunlight, and early autumn frosts.

Rose Pink Intuition is a powerful bush, reaching 70-110 cm in height and 40 to 70 cm in diameter. When planting a rose on your own plot, this nuance must be taken into account. The stems are strong, erect, unbranched, with a single flower bud at the top. Like all hybrids, they are distinguished by their large diameter and strength. The color is green, with brown streaks in places. The number of spikes is average.

The foliage is abundant and large in size. Quite dense, dense green and malachite, lacquered and shiny. Young leaves are more tender and have a reddish-brown tint. The shape is oval-elongated, with small teeth along the edge. The tips of the leaves are pointed.

The buds are large, very terry. When blooming, they are shaped like a glass, up to 9-13 cm in diameter and about 7-8 cm in height. The petals are large, round, curved outward at the ends, forming beautiful ridges. The color is reminiscent of exotic marble - on a creamy-pinkish background there are numerous longitudinal veins of carmine, crimson, and hot pink. The number of petals reaches 17-45 pieces; they practically do not fall off, remaining in the receptacle until completely dry.

The aroma of the blossoming buds is very pleasant, sweetish and refreshing, reminiscent of a fruit mix. The core of the flower is sunny yellow, with tall stamens. A fully blossomed bud has a spherical, slightly flattened shape, with distinctly curved petals. The flowering period is from early summer to October frosts.

Advice! Since Pink Intuition roses are classified as repeat bloomers, buds that begin to fade must be removed. This way new flowers ripen and bloom faster.

Pink Intuition is not susceptible to fungal diseases, including spotting and powdery mildew. Can grow in sun and partial shade. Hardy, if there is sufficient snow cover, it winters at the latitude of Moscow without additional shelter. Withstands frosts down to -23, intended for cultivation in climate zone 4.

Growing such a large-flowered beauty in your summer cottage is the dream of any housewife who loves roses. The lush bush is almost completely covered with luxurious marble flowers throughout the summer, and the gap between two waves of flowering is insignificant. The plant fits perfectly into group plantings and combines with other varieties of roses. Looks especially good with lush greens. Ideal for making bouquets. Rose Pink Intuition is shown in the photo.

Rose Pink Intuition is perfect for growing in the Russian climate and can withstand temperature changes and winter frosts.

How to plant a plant

Consider the description of planting a rose. Pink Intuition is planted in the spring, so that the grafting site of the seedling is 2 cm lower than the ground level. The soil should be well watered and loosened before planting.

It is recommended to place the seedlings in a sunny area, well protected from the wind. Before planting them, you need to soak the roots of the plant in clean water for 2 hours. After the rose is located in the ground, it is hilled up to 15 cm. The distance between plants is determined as 40-50 cm.

How to care for Pink Intuition

Caring for a rose comes down mainly to watering and fertilizing. The best effect is achieved by mineral fertilizers applied in the spring. A week before flowering, you should feed the variety with potassium-phosphorus fertilizers.

What else should you pay attention to? In the first year, it is worth making sure that the rose does not bloom, otherwise its rooting will be very difficult. This means that all flowers that appear in the first year should be picked off, and as soon as August arrives, the rose can be allowed to bloom.

As for pruning, it is carried out in spring or autumn for 5 eyes. In order for the plant to bloom well, it is necessary to promptly remove faded flowers.

For the winter, Pink Intuition does not need to be covered; the variety tolerates frost. But if the winters in your region are harsh, you can install a special frame with two layers of non-woven fabric near the plant. You can put regular film on top of them. After the snow melts in winter, the plant can be opened. But until the soil warms up, it is still recommended to leave one layer of non-woven material. If you do not do this, the rose will immediately begin to actively bloom.

Small stature up to half a meter and the ability to crawl straight along the ground and beautifully hang from flowerpots and pots are distinctive features for this group.

Variety Pink Drift

A typical representative of this group is the Pink Drift variety - small, simple flowers without aroma cover the plant abundantly throughout the season. Frost-resistant, disease resistant.

Reproduction methods

The large-flowered rose Pink Intuition propagates well by cuttings. Only in this way can all the properties of this luxurious variety be transferred to new plants. Seeds of hybrid roses are not suitable for these purposes.

Algorithm of actions:

  • it is necessary to cut off strong stems, not completely woody, but not green either, the length of the cuttings is 15-25 cm, with 3-4 live buds;
  • cut the bottom at an angle of 45 degrees, the top – strictly horizontally;
  • remove all leaves, thorns - optional;
  • plant the cuttings in a prepared light soil mixture and provide a greenhouse effect using a glass or plastic dome.

After 1.5-2 months, young seedlings can be transplanted to a permanent place of residence.

Mature, strong Pink Intuition rose bushes can be propagated by division, carefully digging up the mother plant and separating several parts with rhizomes and stems. Planting material must be trimmed, leaving only three lower buds. Cover the cut areas with garden varnish.

Important! The procedure for cutting Pink Intuition is best carried out after the end of the first wave of flowering.

On young Pink Intuition rose bushes, in the first year it is necessary to pick off the ripening buds so that the plant gets stronger

Growing and care

For planting Pink Intuition roses, nutritious soil consisting of:

  • garden or turf soil;
  • peat;
  • humus;
  • sand.

The ratio of parts is 2x1x3x2, the acidity level should be 5.6-7.3 pH. To do this, you can add slaked lime or dolomite flour to the hole. It is best to plant seedlings in May, in sunny areas or in partial shade, protected from the winds.

Plantings require regular watering in a volume of 20 liters per adult bush, once a week. Depending on weather conditions, the schedule can be adjusted: in rainy summers there is no need to water, in dry periods the soil will have to be moistened more often.

Fertilizing is carried out 2 times a season - in spring and after the first flowering. Use complex nitrogen fertilizers or mullein solutions. It is best to mulch the tree trunk circle.

Pink Intuition roses are pruned in autumn or early spring, before the buds awaken. For the winter, the bushes are hilled up and, if necessary, covered with spruce branches and cut straw.

Recommendations

Landing

The best place for planting is a sunny, windless side. Loose, well-drained soils are suitable. The planting hole is dug to a depth of 50 cm, and its width depends on the size of the root shoot. The bottom is lined with a layer of sand and crushed stone. Then the hole is filled with a soil mixture of well-rotted manure, turf soil, sand and peat in a ratio of 3:2:2:1. It needs to be planted in already warm soil; near Moscow, the most favorable time for planting roses is during the May holidays. Before transplanting, each bush is kept in water (a root formation stimulator can be added) for 4-5 hours. Weak shoots are removed, excessively long shoots are shortened - this will contribute to the active development of the remaining ones.

Care

It tolerates frosts down to minus 20 °C, suitable climatic zones: 6-9 (the south of the Moscow region is included here, shelter for the winter is desirable in the north of the region). Resistant to pests. To maintain high growth rates and rich flowering, you need to feed regularly. It needs systematic watering: once a week will be enough.

Pests and diseases

Rosa Pink Intuition has a powerful immune system. With proper agricultural technology, healthy plants are not susceptible to fungal and bacterial diseases. In rare cases, if watered too much, root rot may develop.

Like all roses, Pink Intuition is susceptible to pest attacks. The most dangerous are:

  • aphids, spider mites;
  • copperhead, sawflies and caterpillars.

When insects appear, it is necessary to treat with industrial insecticides or folk remedies, for example, a solution of laundry soap with garlic or infusion of tomato tops.

Advice! Ants carry aphids to garden flowers. Therefore, it is necessary to get rid of anthills on the site.

Recommendations for protecting flowers from diseases and parasites

Diseases and parasites can cause serious damage to a flower and can sometimes even destroy it. Even though Pink Intuition has a very good immune system, preventive measures will not be superfluous:

  • Aphid. This parasite very often attacks roses, affecting the above-ground part of the plant. Infestations of aphids lead to a serious weakening of the flower, so if you notice this parasite, you must immediately begin protective measures. Most often, pesticides such as Actellik, Karbofos, etc. are used to solve problems with insects. They are very effective in controlling aphids.
  • Pink Intuition is often affected by other parasites: mites, copperheads, sawflies or caterpillars. To combat these insects, use a solution based on 300 grams of chopped onion and 400 grams of tomato foliage. All this is poured with 3 liters of water and left to brew for 6 hours. Then the solution is filtered and 7 liters of clean water are added. Add about 40 g of crushed laundry soap to the finished solution. After its dissolution, the infested areas are treated with the prepared mixture.
  • Another unwanted guest may be a spider mite. To get rid of this parasite, you will need to purchase special pesticides such as Acrex or Isofen.

Many gardeners advise giving preference to traditional methods rather than pesticides in case of minor damage.

Application in landscape design

Large-flowered hybrid roses Pink Intuition are classified as highly decorative varieties and are readily used to decorate areas.

Compact bushes strewn with bright double large flowers look great in flower beds or in the center of the lawn. They are planted as a background for low-growing flowers and herbs. Roses frame garden paths, sidewalks, roads, and create beautiful compositions next to artificial ponds, benches, and swings. These upright shrubs make wonderful hedges and labyrinths.

Attention! When using Pink Intuition roses to decorate the garden, you must remember that the bushes of this variety grow quite strongly - both in volume and in height.
