Description of the drug
The drug "Fitoverm" is considered one of the most popular insecticides among summer residents. The reason for this is the rapid decomposition of the substance, safety and the ability to consume processed fruits after a few days.
The active component of the drug, aversectin C (2 g/l), has excellent acaricidal properties. As soon as the active substance penetrates the intestines of the parasite, it begins to affect its nervous system, and then causes paralysis, which entails the death of the insect.
"Fitoverm" is an excellent preparation for protecting plants from insects
The drug is produced in ampoules and vials. It is a colorless liquid. Its quantity may be different for each manufacturer. For example, Pharmbiomed offers to purchase the drug in the following forms:
- ampoules 2, 4, 5 ml;
- bottles (from 10 to 400 ml);
- plastic containers 5 l.
There is also “Fitoverm CE” - this is a concentrate of aversectin C emulsion. The product is produced in different volumes and is used for vegetables, fruits, and flowers. "Fitoverm CE" for indoor plants is most often produced in ampoules. The shelf life is 2 years.
One of the features of the substance is that it is effective even in hot weather. Not toxic to plants or people. The maximum number of applications per season is 4. Flowering plants should not be sprayed to avoid pollinator poisoning.
Pros and cons of Fitoverm
Fitoverm is a fourth generation pest control product , the main advantage of which is its minimal harmful effect on the soil, flora and beneficial fauna of the site.
Among the advantages of the drug we can also highlight:
- High efficiency and a long list of pests destroyed.
- Versatility. Suitable for use on all plants in the garden, garden and home; it does not inhibit their development.
- Dual mechanism of action - through the skin and intestines of insects.
- The long period of plant protection - up to 20 days - allows you to get by with only 2-3 treatments per season.
- Complete safety for plants.
- Rapid deactivation - the crop is safe to harvest within 48 hours after treatment, does not accumulate in either fruits or foliage.
- Convenient packaging. You can choose the volume of the drug that is needed for your purposes.
- No addiction. The effectiveness of the pesticide does not decrease over 5-6 seasons of consistent use.
- Good compatibility with most drugs on the market.
- It is especially effective in hot weather, unlike most chemical products.
Despite all these advantages, Fitoverm does not solve all pest problems due to some disadvantages:
- Photoinstability, that is, the drug instantly decomposes in light.
- Instability on leaves. The solution adheres weakly to plants and is quickly washed away by precipitation and dew. Therefore, it is recommended to add soap or store-bought adhesives to the liquid.
- Selectivity in action. Pest larvae and eggs do not take part in feeding, so some of them survive treatment. Ticks also often hide in the veins of leaves, so many individuals manage to avoid contact with the poison.
- Expensive. Especially in comparison with similar drugs based on nuclear chemistry.
- Unpleasant (although not strong) odor.
- Toxicity to bees and other pollinators.
- Cannot be applied to the soil.
- The working solution is not stored for longer than one day.
Range of actions
This is a broad-spectrum product. Its high efficiency is noted not only by scientists, but also by experienced summer residents and gardeners, who most often leave positive reviews about Fitoverm. This is a 4th generation biological drug. Fitoverm is used for indoor plants, greenhouse plants and those growing in the garden. With the help of this insecticide, it is possible to destroy more than two dozen plant parasites.
The drug "Fitoverm" for plants significantly reduces the number of parasites
Among them:
- spider, red fruit mite;
- aphid;
- moths;
- cabbage whites and moths;
- Colorado beetle;
- cabbage scoop;
- codling moth;
- leaf rollers;
- thrips.
Scientists have proven that the use of the drug “Fitoverm” for plants significantly reduced the number of parasites. For example, on pear and gooseberries, 95–100% of insects were destroyed during tests. In order to completely prevent the appearance of aphids, leaf rollers and mites, double treatment is necessary. The first should be done after the plant has bloomed, and the second - 14 days before harvesting the fruits.
Restrictions and security
Low toxicity for warm-blooded animals and humans. The hazard class for humans is class 3, for bees – class 2-3. The drug does not cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.
The toxicity of Fitoverm largely depends on air temperature. The higher the air temperature, the higher the toxicity, and, accordingly, the higher the effectiveness of the impact on pests. For example, when the temperature decreased from 24°C to 17°C, the toxicity for spider mites decreased by 7.6 times, and when the temperature increased to 32°C, it increased by 4.8 times.
According to phytotoxicity indicators, it is noted that the active substance Aversectin C is not detected in the leaves 2-3 days after treatment, and in the fruits of vegetables on the second day. When applied to the soil, the substance does not enter the root system of plants at all.
The waiting period before harvesting is only 2-3 days.
The exit time for manual and mechanized work after processing is 1 day.
The effect of the drug is as safe as possible for the environment, due to its biological origin. Fitoverm has virtually no negative impact on soil microflora. Its half-life in water is 3 days, and in soil under greenhouse conditions - only 25-30 hours.
For which plants can Fitoverm be used?
The use of the drug "Fitoverm" is relevant for absolutely all plants - fruit trees, bushes, vegetable crops and flowers that grow both in open and protected ground.

Most often, the following can be treated with Fitoverm:
- currant;
- Apple tree;
- cucumbers;
- peppers;
- potato;
- eggplant;
- cabbage;
- tomatoes;
- indoor flowers.
Despite the specificity of the action, the treatment of individual crops with this drug has its own characteristics. For example, flowers and vegetables that grow in protected soil require one spray mechanism. Crops from open ground require different treatment.
Advantages and disadvantages of the insectoacaricide "Fitoverm"
It’s not for nothing that gardeners fell in love with Fitoverm; it has a lot of advantages. Firstly, it is highly effective in treatments against more than 20 types of pests. Secondly, it is absolutely safe for humans and animals. Thirdly, it does not inhibit the treated crops and quickly decomposes in the external environment; treatments can be carried out even during fruiting. In addition, pests do not develop resistance to phytoverm.
But over the long, more than 25 years of use, gardeners have noted a number of disadvantages:
- It is by no means a cheap price, which exceeds chemical analogues.
- Requires multiple treatments.
- Combination of the drug with other drugs is undesirable.
- Dangerous for beneficial insects and bees.
- Unpleasant pungent odor.
- Low resistance to precipitation.
Application and rules of treatment with the drug
Meteorological conditions play an important role in processing. To spray plants with Fitoverm CE, you need to choose the optimal weather. If it is dry and windless, the active substance will be more effective. When choosing a day, you need to make sure that there will be no rain in the next few hours after spraying. It is best to apply the treatment in the morning.
First of all, prepare a working solution, which must be used immediately after preparation. Pour the liquid into any spray bottle that is at hand. Spray all plants thoroughly, pay special attention to the leaves, because this is the part that suffers the most.

Vegetable crops and trees are processed during the growing season. Garden flowers need to be sprayed twice. This is done during flowering and growing season. As for indoor plants, spraying them is appropriate only when parasites appear. Some species require one mandatory treatment, others require several.
Do you use folk signs in gardening?
Next, follow the instructions for using the drug for indoor plants. For example, violets need to be processed at a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. Dissolve only 2 ml of aversectin C in each liter. Spray the leaves thoroughly. It is necessary to process not only the outside, but also the inside. There is no need to take the flower pot outside. Fitoverm CE is non-toxic, so the plant can be left in the room.
For orchids, the same volume should be dissolved in 0.5 liters of water. Do not forget that for this indoor plant, you need to treat not only the leaves, but also the soil with the Fitoverm preparation. Regardless of the flower and the type of parasite that was getting rid of, spraying must be carried out several times. The fact is that the active component of the product affects only adult individuals, without destroying their larvae.
Advantages
- The drug has no resistance; it can be used for several years, including when growing monocultures.
- It is used in private farms and agricultural production, both on open and protected ground.
- Possibility of application before harvesting - waiting period is only 1-3 days.
- Long period of protective action up to 3 weeks.
- In terms of efficiency and environmental characteristics, Fitoverm has no analogues among biological products.
- Low toxicity for entomophages, including safety for pollinating insects after drying.
How to dilute the drug
Before spraying, you need to know how to properly dilute the product and in what proportions. For each crop and pest there is a certain ratio of water and active substance. If you use Fitoverm for garden plants, then you need to dilute the contents of the ampoules in a bucket of water and mix. Next you need to bring the solution to 10 liters and mix again.

Consumption rates
For each currant and gooseberry bush, the consumption rate is 1.5 liters of working solution; twice as much will be needed for plums and cherries. To process an apple tree, you will need as much as 5 liters.
Consumption rates (per 1 liter of water):
- cucumbers – 8–10 ml;
- potatoes – 1 ml;
- cabbage – 4 ml;
- tomatoes – 8–10 ml;
- peppers – 8–10 ml;
- eggplants – 8–10 ml;
- indoor plants – 2–8 ml;
- flowers of protected soil – 2–8 ml;
- open ground flowers – 2–10 ml.
Depending on the type of insect pest that they are trying to exterminate, the concentration of the drug also changes. Take, for example, tomato parasites. In order to destroy peach aphids, it is enough to dilute 8 ml of aversectin C in 1 liter of water, but to remove spider mites or different types of thrips you will need 10 ml/l.
“Fitoverm” for plants is not a very dangerous product
Precautions during operation
Despite the natural composition of Fitoverm, it is recognized as a toxic substance of hazard class 3.
When working with it, be sure to observe the following precautions:
- Work only with protective seals, glasses, and a respirator. Clothing should be tight to the body.
- To make the solution, use only containers specially designed for this.
- Treatment should not be combined with food intake. In general, it is advisable to carry out the treatment away from the kitchen, children, and animals.
- If the drug gets on the eye mucosa, rinse thoroughly with plain water. If the substance gets on the skin, wash it off with soap and water. If the product gets inside, it is necessary to induce vomiting. To quickly remove the toxin from the body, take “Activated carbon” at the rate of 1 tablet per 10 kg of weight.
- After processing is completed, the containers in which the solution was prepared are washed well and put away in a specially designated place for it. Clothes are washed and showered.
- If any solution remains, it must be disposed of immediately after use. A product that has expired cannot be stored.
Safety precautions for use
“Fitoverm” for plants is a moderately dangerous product. In order not to harm your body during treatment, you must wear a protective suit. During spraying, smoking, drinking and eating are prohibited. The working solution is used immediately after preparation. It is prohibited to leave it for subsequent processing. Both the drug and the working solution must be stored out of the reach of animals and children. Do not mix the substance with other treatment agents, because Fitoverm is incompatible with them.
After the treatment has been carried out, you need to wash your hands and face in warm water and soap. It is recommended to rinse your mouth. In case of poisoning, drink several glasses of water and induce vomiting. After this, take activated carbon and seek qualified medical help.
Instructions for use
The resulting solution loses its properties if stored for too long, so it must be used on the same day.
The remains are poured over the surface of the soil in the plot. To treat plants in open ground conditions, you should choose a day with suitable weather. It is not recommended to spray in hot, rainy or windy weather. The maximum effectiveness of Fitoverm is manifested in the temperature range from +24 to 32C, while at a temperature of +17C and below its effectiveness is significantly reduced. At the same time, the drug quickly decomposes under sunlight, so it is better to choose the morning or evening time of day to work with the drug.
To prepare the working fluid, you need to prepare a suitable container into which a small amount of water is added. Then Fitoverm is added there in the required dosage and after that water is added to the required volume. The container is tightly sealed and shaken vigorously several times, after which the drug is ready for use as intended.
Usually, when preparing, a slight excess of the recommended dosage is allowed. Even in this case, the drug will not become more toxic. It is suitable for spraying both in greenhouses and in open ground conditions.
Tip #1. If a root-knot nematode is detected in greenhouses, instead of completely updating the soil, it is allowed to spray with Fitoverm.
Due to its biological origin, the drug cannot be used in conjunction with chemical pesticides. However, Fitoverm is effectively combined with organic fertilizers, growth activators, root formation stimulants (Epin → how to apply to the soil, indolylbutyric acid, indolylaauxic acid, Epin-Extra, Zircon → application of fertilizer, Cytovit → how to use, Novosil, etc.). To make sure that the drugs really combine well, you need to select a clean container and mix both drugs in question there in equal proportions. The absence of sedimentation indicates that the drugs can be used together.
Fitoverm usually weakly adheres to the surface of plants, which negatively affects its effectiveness. In order to correct the situation, it is recommended to use special substances to enhance adhesion. These include liquid soap, shampoos, gels, etc.
