How to choose a landing site?

First of all, you should inspect your site to identify a flat clearing, well open to sunlight and protected from the effects of winds.
Reduced relief contributes to the stagnation of cold masses , which can have a bad effect on the development of the roots of the seedling in the soil and the preparation of the plant for wintering. A high degree of soil moisture in some areas also does not contribute to the normal development of acacia. If you choose a place inaccessible to strong winds, you can ensure the integrity of the crown and spring buds.

In addition to climatic factors, the love of bees for honey plants should also be taken into account. In this regard, you should not plant acacia in the place where the playground is laid out. You should not place it near fruit trees. The acacia root system is so strong that it can suppress the nearby roots of neighboring plants.

Site selection and soil preparation

Since an adult tree grows to large sizes and has a widely spreading crown, the place for planting it must be chosen initially spacious so that it has the opportunity to fully grow and develop. It is necessary to maintain a distance between plants of 2.5 m.

Acacia prefers to grow in the light, so it is important to take into account that shadows from other, taller trees do not fall on it.

The tree grows well on any soil, even depleted soil. He is not afraid of either wind or drought. But it does not tolerate close groundwater.

The ideal soil for acacia will be a mixture of sand and compost with the addition of ash (old slaked lime, dolomite flour or crushed limestone).

Did you know? Surprisingly, but true: a tree will develop better when planted in loose and poor soil than in clayey and fertile soil.

A bad place for Robinia will be low areas, where it will freeze due to the stagnation of cold masses in them.

It is not recommended to plant white acacia next to fruit trees, as it can inhibit their root system. Also, this culture should be located away from places where children play. Firstly, since the tree is a honey plant, during the flowering period there will be many bees near the acacia. And secondly, the seeds and other parts of the plant are poisonous.

The tree trunk circle under the acacia tree must be kept clean; additional ornamental plants should not be planted in it.

Light - thermal mode

At its core, acacia is considered a southern plant, so a large amount of light and solar heat will only benefit it. However, during drought, young seedlings should be watered. This is required for better rooting of future trees. In the first three years, you need to help the plant prepare for winter. To do this, it is necessary to insulate its roots using a layer of peat or fallen leaves. The thickness of the shelter must be at least 10 centimeters.

To create an optimal thermal regime, you can also wrap the plant trunk with regular burlap.

Resistance to diseases and pests

White acacia is characterized by high resistance to diseases and pests. Occasionally, it can be attacked by sucking parasites: false scale insects and sawflies. As a result of their harmful activity, the plant stops growing, lags behind in development, and shoots become bent.

In order to repel these insects, spraying with decoctions of insecticidal plants is used: black henbane, hellebore, spotted hemlock. In case of mass damage, it is necessary to resort to treatment with chemical insecticides: “Aktara”, “Karbofos”, “Rovikurt”, etc.

Important! Chemicals should be used to spray acacia only as a last resort. Don't forget that acacia is a honey plant, and strong chemicals are deadly to bees.

Soil for acacia

Lightness and looseness are the main characteristics that a soil mixture for planting acacia should have. If the summer cottage is located on poor, sandy soil, the plant itself will enrich it with nitrogen. If the soil is dense, clayey, on which young acacia seedlings are supposed to be planted, you should thoroughly loosen a small piece of soil with a shovel. In this case, drainage should be arranged from a 15-centimeter layer of crushed stone. For the soil mixture, turf soil and compost are taken, into which sand is mixed. This composition is mixed in a ratio of 6:4:4 with a pre-selected top layer of soil.
